Featured Replies

Outfielder Yoenis Cespedes plans to opt out of the two remaining years on his contract with the Mets, according to Jon Heyman of Fan Rag.

And so it begins... again.

Oh god no.

What did last years thread have... like, 402 pages? ?

WE'RE ALL IN, BABY

"Letting the market come to them 2016/2017" "Hahn playing poker 2016/2017"

Cespedes will use the White Sox as leverage again and go re sign with the Mets. Again.

No thank you. Not interested. Blow the whole thing to smithereens and let the kids play.

Suspend him!!!!!!!! ?

I don't care how the White Sox do it but sign Cespedes. The team needs his bat and it would for once be a positive PR move for the franchise. Rather then trade either Sale and Quintana which would be another PR disaster, simply sign Cespedes and the 2017 White Sox season becomes a more positve situation.

The question is how much better would Cespedes make the White Sox. I would venture to guess that most would feel, not good enough.

Elite offensive production from CF/RF and DH along with a fully functioning bullpen I could see putting us in the 85-86 win category. Still just requires 2016 and not 2015 melky, 2nd half Abreu, and 2016 Eaton. And no very bad sophy slump from Anderson

Just really hard to do.

Pass

Will Cespedes get a qualifying offer which would ultimately cost the Sox the #12 draft pick?

He will absolutely get a QO.

Our new manager may change his feelings about coming here now

Is Cespedes a good fielder? Or a butcher out there? He definitely would be a nice bat to go with Frazier and Abreu. That would mean three guys hitting 30 or more homers. That is returning us to our glory days in terms of way to win games. HRs in the Cell. I think because of the Cubs success we will sign him. I'm assuming he's a decent fielder (let me know pls). Cespedes in left, Eaton center and Melky right. Trade Avi for scraps or let Avi DH and pray he has his breakout season. Just think if Avi could hit 30 homers. That'd be FOUR guys whacking 30 HRs. Trade Lawrie and have a decent infield of Frazier, Anderson, Saladino and Abreu. Anderson might hit 15 homers and Saladino 10 to 15.

Then we should make a major trade and acquire a catcher and reliever for some minor league studs. If we could get Cespedes, a catcher in a blockbuster trade, a reliever of note (a guaranteed good one to go with Robertson) we actually might contend. Why wouldn't this lineup win the Central?: Anderson, Eaton, Cespedes, Frazier, Abreu, Melky, Saladino, Avi (DH) and catcher. With a good manager he might make that work. Yes, a lot of slow slow baserunners, but two really fast ones at top of order. If you want to have one fast guy at the top and one at the bottom, put Melky second in the order and move down Anderson.

Our pitching staff is good enough to contend IF we got that one RELIABLE lockdown guy (with heat) to go with Robertson. U figure between Jones and Jennings we have two arms we can flip flop. An easy way to fill a hole is just pay Cespedes a gazillion dollars and make that blockbuster trade for a good catcher and excellent reliever. JR gets his contender if we make these moves and pay some big bucks.

No excuses. That is a wildcard team if it is managed correctly! Do it. Go Sox! It's just $$$. The alternative is to suck again. We won't do squat without SOMEBODY like Cespedes added to the team, also a catcher and a GOOD reliever (you guys are dreaming if you think our current pen will be good nuff; it won't). Anybody disagree??

Who? I could see us buying low on a guy like Derek Norris who is currently blocking Austin Hedges.
