Awful. Those people's elders are spinning in their f***ing graves.

Man, people really will fall for anything.

After all my years fighting against voter suppression... maybe I'm not so opposed to a basic political literacy test before you're allowed to vote... (mostly green. mostly)

Literally letting fake news outlets in.

So are we West Korea now?

@mattdpearce

NRA's Wayne LaPierre tells CPAC that the left's protesters are paid $1,500 a week and are dangerous

Yeah, right. I make double that protesting for Soros. Also, I get dental.

"It can't happen here" "It can't happen here" I continue to insist as liberal democracy is undermined and the country transforms into authoritarian regime.

e: buzzfeed news and politico were also kept out of the briefing

Breitbart, OANN, Washington Times are all in White House briefing. CNN and NY Times (and LA Times) not allowed in.

You're not allowed in until you're willing to give a fake news spin job.

While much of the media has been focused on the administration’s campaign against illegal immigration, a rising star among Senate Republicans, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, has been pursuing a parallel agenda: a bill to cut legal immigration in half, an idea long considered toxic in Washington but whose time may be coming around.

Perhaps no one in Washington was happier to hear the news than Roy Beck, a cheerful 68-year-old former reporter who founded the anti-immigration group NumbersUSA, and has been waiting for a moment like this for 20 years. Curtailing legal immigration has long been an untouchable subject in politics — an idea pushed by a handful of groups like Beck’s but largely ignored on the Hill by members of both parties. Now the environment has drastically changed, with Cotton, who enjoys access to Donald Trump’s White House, championing the cause, and a president who seems open to the idea.

Meanwhile, lost in all the shuffle...something even more insidious.

When you try and put something in a box, it just makes more people wonder whats in the box.

Same.

The good news for most of us, is that Trump is so unprepared such a novice, that he keeps sinking himself.

I didnt even know what a "gaggle" was before today, and I have to imagine that most others dont either. Whatever he said, was probably completely unimportant and having CNN, NYT whoever there would have done nothing to change his "supporters" opinions.

But since he banned them, now he headlines are about the "ban" and its "outrageous" precedent. He doesnt even get why its helpful to his position to let CNN in.

Who knows what happens, but he is clearly letting the "fight" with the media, get in the way of his agenda. So in a way, the media is winning.

I read this bulls*** and had to fight back tears. The 1996 Olympics wouldn't get out of my head.

The son of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali was detained for hours by immigration officials earlier this month at a Florida airport, according to a family friend.

Muhammad Ali Jr., 44, and his mother, Khalilah Camacho-Ali, the first wife of Muhammad Ali, were arriving at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Feb. 7 after returning from speaking at a Black History Month event in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They were pulled aside while going through customs because of their Arabic-sounding names, according to family friend and lawyer Chris Mancini.

Immigration officials let Camacho-Ali go after she showed them a photo of herself with her ex-husband, but her son did not have such a photo and wasn't as lucky. Mancini said officials held and questioned Ali Jr. for nearly two hours, repeatedly asking him, "Where did you get your name from?" and "Are you Muslim?"

When Ali Jr. responded that yes, he is a Muslim, the officers kept questioning him about his religion and where he was born. Ali Jr. was born in Philadelphia in 1972 and holds a U.S. passport.

I don't understand why people don't just refuse to comply. It's completely illegal to do this without a warrant.

EDIT: Gotta check my white male privilege on that... It's not as simple for many folks, I'm sure.
