April 22, 20178 yr Per Scott Merlin Twitter, Shields put on the DL with a strained right lat. Pelfrey scratched from Charlotte start, no corresponding move announced yet.
April 22, 20178 yr I was enjoying the resurgent Big Game Shields. Now we have two starters on the dl. Pelfrey is coming up
April 22, 20178 yr ChiTribSkrbina: White Sox place pitcher James Shields on 10-day DL with strained right lat. Shields is 1-0, 1.62 ERA, 16 Ks in 3 starts this year. ChiTribSkrbina: Mike Pelfrey will take Shields' spot in Sox rotation for now. Team expects him to miss as many as three starts. JJStankevitz: Hahn: Sox think it's a "it is a relatively mild strain and we’re optimistic that he will only miss a couple of turns through the rotation." Edited April 22, 20178 yr by SouthWallace
April 22, 20178 yr The injuries keep piling up. Guess this isn't a bad year for it to happen though. Mark
April 22, 20178 yr Well it is bad because a good Shields has a place on a contender in the second half
April 22, 20178 yr Hopefully he comes back strong. He was looking good. With the Padres covering half or so of his salary, if he can be a serviceable 4th starter he could be moved. Probably not much of a return, but at least some payroll being cleared.
April 22, 20178 yr Sox are serious about the rebuild and not gonna rush the young pitchers. Pelfrey is 0-2 over 6 innings with an ERA of 7.50 Edited April 22, 20178 yr by elrockinMT
April 22, 20178 yr The Sox probably reached the season high point with that 7-6 record. It is all down hill from here.

April 22, 20178 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) Which also means three more Covey starts, unless they replace him with Danish. Considering Covey is a Rule 5 draft pick, and as such would have to be offered back to the A's if sent down, I think he's among the safest pitchers on the entire roster. They aren't winning anything this year. They are probably going to keep throwing him out there.

April 22, 20178 yr Pelfrey tonight versus the Tribe. Might be over quickly but let's hope the veteran can still bring it
