Todd Frazier is hitting .175, but he's our third basemen, and he's going to turn it around real soon and lead us to the playoffs, by golly. Go Sox yay!

He hustles and is a leader in the clubhouse, though!

I'll agree with that. I would've pulled Pelfrey after the homer. But its semantics at this point from that b.s call.

Still would have only been two outs, and then he was nowhere close against one of the worst hitters in baseball and almost gave up a homer to their 9 hitter.

That was kinda scary.

Still got him out fathom. Definitely can't get on Renteria for this one. Sorry. I'll definitely agree on him facing Trout which was brutal.

Leaving him in against Calhoun's at least defensible, despite the two walks in the inning. The tried and true axiom of always trying to get the starting pitcher the win (unless it's the heat of a pennant race or the playoffs). Plus Calhoun has really been struggling this season.

What didn't make sense was leaving Pelfrey in to face Trout with nothing left. Then you're now burning two of your best relievers in a game you're likely to lose.

Oh well.

Not sure if we make it back to .500 for the rest of the season...not that it matters much.

Hawk is in a know it all mode tonight. Good thing Stoney isn't in the mood to disagree with him. He's letting Hawk tell it like it is so to speak. Hawk isn't in his mean mode but definitely in his know it all mode. Hawk has all the answers.

LOL. I am amused at Hawk and his infatuation with how big Mike Trout is

But what size are his hands?

Too early...or too late?

And now the mystery of whatever happened to Bud Norris has been resolved.

Edited by caulfield12

Willy probably makes that play.

And damn, I don't remember Infante with that kind if velocity and hook..

Edited by SoxAce

Gun on Angels broadcast says Infante 's fastball is 97 MPH.

I think it is pretty obvious what you throw Davidson every time

Could have Norris ejected for all the pine tar on his hat that he keeps touching.

I know the bench sucks but I don't like Smith batting there

Oh well the ump misses a call and we get beat. One pitch basically turned this game from a win to a loss

He has power. Granted he never hits the ball, but he has the power

Pelfrey and Covey are now a combined 0-7 for the season. Folks those guys are really, really bad. ERA's are 5 1/2 and 8 respectively.

Lost again in Anaheim. That's something like 13 of 16 there since 2012.

Anaheim is the latest in a long line of Sox "House of Horrors."

I know some will say, "the Sox are rebuilding...who cares?"

I disagree with that notion.

These guys are getting bombed out early night after night putting a major strain on the bullpen. That bullpen includes some guys who may be trade pieces in a few months. If they are overworked, ineffective the Sox won't even be able to get a Single A type prospect for any of them.

Personally even in a rebuilding year, I'd rather the Sox promote some borderline kids out of the minor league system who may have a future. Give them a shot and see what if anything they can do. And I'm not talking about the top prospects, let them stay in the minors and learn their craft.

The Sox may find a kid or two who actually has a future with the team...we know Covey and Pelfrey have no future. Period.

Just my opinion.

Guys. Aren't. Ready. I don't get why people are having such a hard time getting this.

3rd time facing Pelfrey this year, opponents are 9 for 12, 2 doubles, a triple, and 2 homers.

Renteria took the blame for the loss. He said he went against his better judgement and was trying to do something for the player before the team.

Not sure I agree with this. He can't keep going to the bullpen in the 5th inning 2/5 in the rotation. He tried to save the bullpen some as well i think.

He was trying to get Pelfrey the individual win...when his gut told Renteria to pull him when Calhoun came up as a LHB against a rhp (and even though it was still a shutout at that time after the catcher flew out) and considering the two walks earlier in the inning and the pitch count nearing 100.

Those were his words, not mine. I agree, you have to get more than what he is getting innings wise out of Pelfrey and Covey. But the signs were there it was coming apart, and it is amazing how bad he's been the 3rd time around. Guys don't hit that well in batting practice.
