The Giants have a brutal schedule to end the season. I have a hard time thinking the Sox are going to catch them. I'd almost call catching the Phillies a little more likely. In the end though, just hold on to the #3 pick at this point.

True, but as of now, the Sox have 16 out of 20 games left with teams playing for something. Hopefully the Angels will still be in it, and the Indians are fighting for HFA.

Sox won, Giants and Phillies lost...

1.5 GB of Giants for the 2nd pick

3 GB of the Phillies for the 1st pick

What is the tie-breaker for draft position?

What is the tie-breaker for draft position?

Previous year record. Better record last year gets the less favorable upcoming pick. Examples:

Sox tie with Giants... Sox would get the better pick since the Giants where better last year.

Sox tie with Phillies... Phillies would get better pick since we where better last year.

Will the Tigers be four games worse than the Sox the last 19 games?

yaay lets win more meaningless games..

But Lopez pitched well. These games are like double edged swords if you're rooting for losses. Yes, the offense kicked ass today. Even a bad Lopez probably would have resulted in a Sox win. So the Sox won. But it is not meaningless... we really need Lopez to be an awesome pitcher for our future Sox team and outings like this are only good in that respect. If the Sox win, I hope it's only because players projected to be on the next competitive Sox team did well. That's all I can ask for. The Sox have solidified a top pick in the draft. They won't get #1 anyway because Philly just plain blows and it seems like they have no future at all. I'll gladly take the worst record in the AL, although it does seem like the Tigers are pulling off a nice tankjob to finish their season...

It's looking more and more possible but I believe Captin Covey and his trusty sidekick James will save the day for us.

12:45 in California. Giants up 6-5 after 5. Sure to wake up to a Dodgers win.

How sure? :nono

Giants win 8-6

I am fine with wins like this. Lopez pitched fine for where he is in his career and Moncada had a great game with the bat along with some other of our possible bats that may be around for the next few years. This win is okay.

Tigers are unlosable right now.

Monday:

Won- Giants, White Sox, Blue Jays

It's crazy how much the sox bullpen has stabilized. When they are bad it seemsl ike they are all bad together. BUt otherwise they are decent.

Infante has actually been really good the last two months.

And him and Minaya have been used a lot.

I think the White Sox finish 7-12 over their last 19 games. That puts them at 64-98. That should lock up the 3rd pick in the draft.

Phillies down 7-6 bottom 9. Inning starts with HBP, single.

1st and 3rd, no out. Familiar?

Tied it up.

Tied it up.

Yeah, and they had the winning run taken away by replay.

Marlins scored in the 10th. Oh well, 2nd is probably the best to hope for anyway.

Hoskins homer. Tied again.

Phillies win it.

Giants trailing the Dodgers.

Sox lose, Giants lose, Phillies win.
