Moncada hitting sixth again. Renteria sees him as a potential middle of the order guy in the future

Why? We have like five guys who can play 3B.

Unless he was just having fun, maybe Boston asked if he could? They considered that for him before the WSox signed him

I know there were talks in previous seasons of playing Abreu at 3B in interleague games to get his bat in the lineup, but it never happened.

I'd like to see it as a morbid curiosity in a rebuilding season, but I doubt he'd be even below average there.

That doesn't really make sense considering he is the starting 1b and not the DH. His bat would be in the lineup anyway

I remember Ventura talking about it. I think it may have been when we had LaRoche, as a way of getting them both in the lineup when no DH vs NL teams.

Take this Freddie Freeman!

Ugh, moving people around in order to get LaRoche in the lineup

Better than moving people on the field to get Drake extra infield practice

I think he is taking grounders at third just in case. Playing the Cubs, you never know at their park.Jermaine Dye once played SS for the Sox.

Delmonico played 1b yesterday...has he done that a lot?

He's played 122 games at 1B in his career, according to Baseball Reference.

First game I'll get to watch Moncada in the bigs. Excited. :)

Too bad he'll be hitting right-handed lol

Oh look, more poor hustle by the Sox

Hopefully after Melky is traded Moncada starts batting higher up in the order.

I guess it doesn't hurt for Yolmer to get 3B reps, but I'd much rather see him at SS and Saladino at 3B instead of the other way around.

They might be showcasing Saladino

With his performance thus far and back issues, Saladino, unless the Sox see absolutely no hope his status should be hold.

I don't see how he fits the roster next year

Eh.. I've seen him enough in the minors to realize that. Just excited to see how he looks up here.

Doing a great job of not chasing pitches since he's been up. Also, holy cow is Yolmer's average plummeting. Remember when some thought he would push Moncada off 2nd?

Could Pelphrey be a decent middle reliever next year. Through the first 2 innings in all his starts he is 34 innings and 10 runs. That is if he isnt scored upon next inning today. And through the 3rd innings of starts he will have 51 innings 17 runs if not scored on through 3 today. After that he goes about 26 innings and 26 runs. He just doesnt have the strength anymore to be a starter.
