November 14, 20178 yr I'm totally confused by the proposed roster additions to the cards. Seems like they have an abundance of hit first/defensively ? players. They keep proposing more.
November 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) So that basically puts the Giants in the drivers seat right? Padres and A's probably don't want the contract, Dodgers might not be able to afford it. Do the Angels try to make a run at him then? The Dodgers can afford anything, as long as they don't care about the luxury tax. Never count them out. Stanton is from LA and went to high school there.
November 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Oh ya, they'll handle if wonderfully. Next big name talk radio has been talking a lot about down here is...Jose Abreu. I want to say they were a fairly serious bidder for him?

November 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) I want to say they were a fairly serious bidder for him? Trade us 2-3 top prospects (1-2 in the top 50/100) and their competitive balance pick. Edited November 14, 20178 yr by soxfan2014

Wow, I always assumed since he was bigger he'd be a log out there. Did not know that, also can count on no hands the amount of marlins games I've watched last few years

November 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) I thought he was referring to Cards. Maybe he was? Didn't think the cards were looking for a 1B with Carpenter already there. Now I'm really confused. Lol.
November 14, 20178 yr I'm referring to the Cardinals. It's just Sports radio banter but he's a name they bring up a lot. Carpenter can move around, they just want a middle of the order bat.

Carpenter can move around, they just want a middle of the order bat. Thanks for clarifying dude. The Cards have interest in a corner OF and a 1B, plus they have plenty of good prospects. Let's make a deal!
November 14, 20178 yr So now there are reports that the Dodgers are going after Stanton, but also that he hasn't ruled out Boston or St. Louis. So basically everyone wants him and no one knows what he wants.
November 15, 20178 yr Bob NightengaleVerified account @BNightengale 4h4 hours ago There are eight teams who have inquired about #Marlins Giancarlo Stanton, but the #SFGiants and #STLCards remain atop leaderboard Dan SzymborskiVerified account @DSzymborski 1h1 hour ago It was widely believed inside baseball that the White Sox ask for Quintana during last winter was too high. But I didn't hear the mockery that I'm getting about the Marlins and Stanton.

November 16, 20178 yr Jon MorosiVerified account @jonmorosi Giancarlo Stanton trade development: Sources say multiple teams told #Marlins that Stanton’s contract (10 years, $295 million) is roughly what he’d receive on open market. Thus, #Marlins would need to include cash in order to obtain high-level prospects. @MLB @MLBNetwork

November 20, 20178 yr Source : Cardinals as previously reported by @jonmorosi made offer to Marlins for Stanton. That proposal Included prospects, among them hard throwing top hurler Sandy Alcantara via Craig Mish on twitter.
November 20, 20178 yr This is becoming very interesting. The Giants have and are willing to spend the money and the Cards have the prospects. Hopefully Stanton ends up in SF or Boston so the Cards shift their attention to Avi. Really like what the Cards have to offer in a trade.

November 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) There's an interesting team at #1 here... ESPN: Finding the best spot for Giancarlo Stanton Stanton makes zero sense for the White Sox. Their OF of the future is pretty shored up. It's 3B that poses the biggest long term concern (enter Manny Machado next offseason).

I dunno if it counts, but I feel like Sanchez has a better chance of filling the 3b spot until Berger is ready than Engel does of filling the CF spot. Maybe Leury takes over that spot out in CF, but that's my favorite weak spot right now.

Must be a slow day and Dan has begun his holiday cheer a bit early.

November 20, 20178 yr It'd be borderline insanity to lock up this much money, but... C - Collins 1B - Abreu 2B - Moncada SS - Anderson 3B - Machado LF - Stanton CF - Robert RF - Jimenez DH - Garcia Would be a pretty fun lineup
