November 12, 20178 yr My 8th grader is doing a science fair project. He needs the following info for his data collection: 1) Your high school rank 2) Number of students in your graduating class 3) Job title you have held that paid (or would have paid if you changed jobs for whatever reason) the highest salary. Just the title - DO NOT PROVIDE SALARY INFO. He's testing to see if there is a correlation between HS rank and future financial success.
November 13, 20178 yr Author Thanks. Might as well give mine for the record. 1) 27 2) 340 3) Injury Compensation Specialist
November 13, 20178 yr You guys are some smart f***ers! I have no idea what my class rank was...probably around the top 40 percentile. I suspect there were about 250 dudes in my graduating class. Energy Market Policy Interestingly, Google has done some studies which show the university you attended only impacts your career for the first two years out of college.
November 13, 20178 yr 1) 32 2) 792 3) Sports Clinical Specialist (physical therapist) Edited November 13, 20178 yr by ptatc
November 13, 20178 yr Wouldn't salary, or at least a salary range, mostly dictate the "financial success" equation?
November 13, 20178 yr Author QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 12:13 AM) Wouldn't salary, or at least a salary range, mostly dictate the "financial success" equation? He's going to use average salaries for the occupation listed. Asking people to provide their actual salaries might be a little invasive.
November 13, 20178 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) 1 605 Professor This is awesome...I know I've said this before, but I will always think of you as the character Sheldon in Big Bang Theory

November 13, 20178 yr 1) Top 10% (I do not remember my exact rank or even if my high school did precise rankings) 2) 1100 3) Law firm associate
November 13, 20178 yr Author This is great. Thanks for the feedback, and I promise not to lord my higher ranking over any of you.
November 13, 20178 yr I don't remember either number and I'm not even sure how to go about finding them.
November 13, 20178 yr Ya, I have no clue what my class rank was but I know it wasn't good. Shocking I know.
November 13, 20178 yr This might be a little odd, but is it better to show GPA vs. class rank? I ask because I can't contribute. My school didn't have a class rank. I'd say I was probably top 10-20% with a school with about 1200 students. I am an Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis

I am an Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis An estimate is good enough for me. He just needs data. It's an 8th grade science fair project. It's inherently flawed. I made up all of the data for mine in 8th grade.
November 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) 1 605 Professor Must not be at a state school because they don't pay us squat.
November 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (ptatc @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 11:59 PM) Must not be at a state school because they don't pay us squat. You can literally figure out the school I'm at by reading beneath my name at the left
November 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) You can literally figure out the school I'm at by reading beneath my name at the left I've narrowed it down to New Mexico State and North Carolina A&T. Both of which are state schools so you must be really good at writing grants. Edited November 14, 20178 yr by ptatc
November 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) I believe its Texas AM. He has posted about it a few times. Now you are acting more like Sheldon (not recognizing sarcasm) than him (geology isn't a real science, rock for jocks).
