Farmer is 100% right that Clevenger balks on every single pitch with runners on.  He never completely pauses before he comes home.

This is something a lot of guys do nowadays but it isn't called. Why have the rule if it isn't enforced?

Speaking of Ronnie “Sunshine” Bass (Clevinger’s doppelgänger)...rewatching Remember the Titans would be a good choice if this one gets into blowout territory. Anderson has now passed Moncada in O

6 innings and no walks.  I know he got hit hard at points, but I can handle an outing like this versus what we had been seeing.

  • Rodon.  5 IP 3 H 0 R 0 ER 2 BB 8 SO (86 pitches)

Much needed break for Yoan

Moncada needed that one.

Yoan looks better from the right side now than he does from the left.. really pulling off the ball lefty and stayed on that one righty. Lucky break there but needed it.

And Then there’s that..

I am beginning to think that we may not be in a position to challenge for the division at this rate

I think if the Sox can take anything away from this outing of  Giolito is NO walks. Going in the right direction

I would rather see 2 walks and no HR. That would have been a better direction.

Rodon.

Curious what his velocity has been.

94 consistently.  Great change up.  Obviously, the slider is killer.

You have a point but take a positive where you can

Cheap homer

Palka murdered that ball.

Rondon is a real swinger. Beck has had maybe two successful outings with the White Sox total.

I agree with Tim, that ball was high.

I wonder if Narvaez could hit for a 700 OPS at Great Falls. He f***ing blows.

On the plus side, if you put together Sanchez/Davidson at 3B and can limit Palka to DHing, then you might actually have something.

Now, all we need to do is come up with 2 outfielders (one is Jimenez, obviously) and Collins/Zavala look like they will be at least league average (at worst).

Theoretically, I think you sign one veteran FA outfielder (Pollock, Brantley, etc.) not named Harper, a veteran "value" 2/3 starter and bullpen help and you're not THAT far off in this division...especially with the Indians watching Encarncacion decline, Miller will be gone, Brantley won't be in their price range, and Kipnis has sucked but he's been one of their clubhouse leaders and a productive player until last year and will be missed more than they think.

This is painful to watch.. not much positive from them right now.

1) Palka's exit velocity

2) Anderson's offensive surge

3) Covey looking like he might be on the verge of putting it together

4) A classic Abreu hot streak

5) Tilson actually staying healthy for a week?

6) No more Gonzalez...soon?

Palka has five home runs. He's only 26 years old. He looks perfect for this day and age of lift and pull. Sox might have to make a decision on which one of these guys will be DH of the future. Palka? Davidson? Avi? Abreu? Palka appears to have a clue.

A Palka/Davidson platoon at DH could be something. Plus, with Leury as a super sub, it wouldn't cost you a valuable bench spot.

That is a lot more positive than I took out of these games

Yolmer's penciling out somewhere in the 2.1-2.6 fWAR range for a full season.

Can we live with that at 3B?   Maybe.

Palka is at 0.0 because of his defense...1.2 OFF and -3.8 DEF before today's game, which might have moved him up to 0.1
