First ever start in AA... I would expect nerves from the kid.

Oh, I thought it was his second

  • Kopech might have tweaked something, doesn't look arm related as he's throwing 97 still.

  • Fastball command is good, as even his misses have been close enough to get hitters to think about.  I can totally see him becoming a sinker baller in the majors and not necessarily a power pitcher.

Interesting. That would kind of be like Covey no?

I feel like the Sox should have an overarching PR guy that only feeds injury info on prospects wrt to random subs in the minors (or not so random).

Fegan and Chuck are closest we have

6 steals against Cease. Clark allows both inherited runners to score.

yea, both do pretty well.  fegan is a godsend, his coverage is amazing.  he's a guy that excels as both narrator and observer.

Tough day for Cease. 97 pitches in 4.2 innings. It's  a process.

Still threw a good amount of strikes, so that's promising. He was one out away from a solid start, all things considered.

Looks like Remillard replaced Robert in CF...I hope it's not another injury.

He got HBP in his previous AB prior. Not sure if that had something to do with it (or his hand/wrist) but I'll bet it's probably precautionary.

Lost in all this is Battenfield with a dominating start in his high A debut.

He was hit in the foot for what it's worth.

And huge games for Laz and Gonzalez

Was just about to post about Laz. 4-4, 2 2B?! That'll work.

Adolfo and Forbes with nice nights too. Damn near every player on that team.

I know Great Falls doesn't mean much, but I was/am pretty intrigued by Stiever.  Went 3.0 IP 0 H 1 BB 6 SO tonight.  Assuming he's done.

Wow Yrizarri just went deep for a grand slam. Every player on the Dash with a hit now.

Lol. This 9th inning for the Dash. Now Rivera homers.

First time the pitcher for Dash has pitched in 3 years?

Rivera's average jumped significantly tonight. We want 20!! :D

Are any of the college position players on the voyagers interesting to people? Tough to figure out the whole team at first.

Danny freaking Mendick just went yard in the tenth after booker tied the game with a double in the ninth.

Mendick now has as many home runs (10) as he had all of last year in about a little over half as many games. At a more advanced level. In a difficult park for power.

Sam Abbott, 3-4, 2 2B, 3 RBI

Hopefully Weaver is alright. Got HBP and had to be pinch ran for and taken out the game.

Some of you might enjoy reading this summary of last night's offensive onslaught by the Dash, highlighting Laz Rivera's huge night. This guy is really intriguing. He wasn't highly touted, but his entire career, including his college and junior college days, is very impressive. I remember listening to Hostetler rave about him, last month.

This is a very good scouting report, including good video:

Only 40 hit and 35 power? Wonder if his “high back elbow” has been changed in any way since last December?

If a guy like Laz Rivera makes it, he’ll have beaten every projection along the way so I wouldn’t really worry about the grades being low.

A more recent scouting report with video on Rivera is here, from late April.

I think his hit tool ceiling is much higher than 40, but 35 power seems about right.
