Well LaMarre can play CF and Eloy can't so you are correct so as far as needing a backup CF . Not sure how good LaMarre is out there. It surely is the Sox biggest hole and should be a focus of the off season.
August 6, 20187 yr LaMarre doesn't preclude Eloy. He just gives you a guy who can cover CF if needed. This does leave the Sox even thinner on the IF. It means that basically the only back up for the middle IF is our starting 3B now. If Anderson or Moncada get a day off, Davidson has to play 3rd, with Yolmer sliding into the middle infield.

Well, that does mean that the White Sox can't easily dump Davidson to bring up Jiminez.

Especially risky with an ailing Tim Anderson

August 7, 20187 yr Matt Davidson = Mark Reynolds. A guy who will stick around as a backup/platoon corner infielder.

Reynolds has been way better in his career than what we've seen from Davidson. He's very inconsistent about it, but over his career he's been a slightly above average hitter (.787 OPS, 105 OPS+).
