Leury to DL, LaMarre Called Up, Smith back

Well that should pretty much end all talk of Eloy being brought up soon.

Can LaMarre play CF at all or does this just mean we're in for a hefty dose of Adam Engel?

Mas Engel

Not really. Eloy can’t play center field and we needed a center fielder. If he’s not up this weekend then I’ll agree.

Well LaMarre can play CF and Eloy can't so you are correct so as far as needing a backup CF . Not sure how good LaMarre is out there. It surely is the Sox biggest hole and should be a focus of the off season.

LaMarre doesn't preclude Eloy.  He just gives you a guy who can cover CF if needed.  This does leave the Sox even thinner on the IF.  It means that basically the only back up for the middle IF is our starting 3B now.  If Anderson or Moncada get a day off, Davidson has to play 3rd, with Yolmer sliding into the middle infield.

Well, that does mean that the White Sox can't easily dump Davidson to bring up Jiminez.

Especially risky with an ailing Tim Anderson

It's pretty much down to trade Avi, or send one of Palka or Delmonico down. I have no idea if either has options remaining. But if they don't, too bad.

Both Palka & Delmonico have options (I believe two each), which is why Davidson is pretty much safe.

Would Davidson get claimed? I  don't think he would.

I think he would as he has some positional versatility and is pretty damn good against LHP.

And I’m sure there is a playoff team out there that could use some bullpen help.

Matt Davidson = Mark Reynolds. A guy who will stick around as a backup/platoon corner infielder.

I don't think Avi makes it through waivers if they call up Eloy this year.... I'd like to think Delmonico goes down, but I have this feeling it will be PalkaSmash.

Reynolds has been way better in his career than what we've seen from Davidson. He's very inconsistent about it, but over his career he's been a slightly above average hitter (.787 OPS, 105 OPS+).

Yeah, I should have said Mark Reynolds light.
