No, not serious.  At all.  A jab at previous FG evaluations.

Ok cool, Fangraphs will need to eat some serious crow when they do their offseason list.  And wasn’t their reliever comment only a few weeks ago?  No idea how they came to that conclusion if they’ve been following the kid this year.

Seems like Madrigal is really wearing down...long season at OSU, the extended College World Series, then straight to professional baseball.

Think he needs a break, was pulled out of 2nd game for some reason tonight.

Hope they don't send him to the AFL until after he's had the opportunity to make some adjustments with his approach.

I would think being out 7 weeks with injury he would be fresher than most rookies. CWS added maybe another 12-15 games to his schedule but he also started his pro career later than most as a result.

I wonder if Kiley will have a write up too. Does he normally do one of starts he sees in person?

yes, he has a daily notes feature that he'll write him up most likely

10 game hitting streak for Comas.

Another strong outing for 20yo Melendez in DSL.  Five no hit innings 8k 4w 1 ER.  WHIP sub one on the year!

He’s playing against high schoolers. It really doesn’t matter. If he was any good he’d be in the states by now

Nah, only 5 innings! Long reliever at best!

Could also be visa issues. I don't know how easy it is to bring these kids stateside mid-season.

Crazy how Cease's numbers got significantly better after to moving up to Birmingham. I know Birmingham's park plays into it a bit but still, damn!

I mean, the biggest difference is he’s striking out an additional 3 batters per 9 innings in AA.  Park factor should have nothing to do with that.

It has felt like one of the things that increases in birmingham negatively (and has been an indicator of struggles in charlotte) is walks, as they face better hitters. That hasn't happened.

Feels like the only thing that will hold Cease back is endurance building.

In May, I thought "when Cease, Jimenez and Kopech get promoted, these MILB threads will be boring again." But now? We'll still be able to follow Madrigal, Collins, Zavala, Gonzalez, Robert, Bush, Rutherford, Basabe, etc. How fun.:headbang

The size of foul territory factors into potential strikes vs foul outs

Yeah his stuff is ahead of his endurance. If he wasn't still building up his innings I'd say he could be an April or May cap up next year but IMHO his IP totals tell me he needs another year in the minors. Maybe a late August call-up like Kopech this year? I guess we'll see where his innings totals are at when August comes back around.

He's definitely stepped it up big time. His ERA is a full run lower in Birmingham than it was at WS and that's where I think park factor has helped but certainly not the only contributor. More K's per 9 is contributing as well.
