February 21, 20197 yr Remember when Hahn said at soxfest he was working on a few acquisitions? Confident, sorta like he was dying to tell us all the great news. Good god man! Why did you build up your base when you were in the position that you were in?! This whole damn thing is just outrageous. The entire winter of nonsense could have been handled so much better even if you didn’t sign either guy.

Yeah, if you were cynical you could say all of that was done in bad faith to sell season tickets.

Like, if that came out as true I would without a doubt not be a Sox fan anymore. At least not until the team was sold and FO changed.

We are just the weird overwhelming fanatics and that’s just how we act when we don’t get our way. We will get over it. That’s how I see their perception of us. In reality, they look down on us. We are just stupid people who don't know anything because we aren't involved in the business. The history of how jerry runs things proves it, and it's quite a shame
February 21, 20197 yr 4 minutes ago, Jose Abreu said: I disagree. He said that it's unlikely/a longshot, but didn't say that we're out He is a Boras spokesman. What he wrote is definitely a hint they are out, and maybe not a White Sox decision

Just like he called Harry and Jimmy scum during the 1983 celebration. I did not know, or at least remember the incident. I just researched it and found this discussion with Jim Piersall, in an interview he gave on this site.: The night of September 17, 1983, Jerry Reinsdorf was in the locker room during the clinching celebration, being interviewed by ‘Hawk’ Harrelson when he unleashed his broadside at you and Harry. I don’t know if you were watching it at the time but what was your reaction? (Author’s Note: Reinsdorf stated ‘wherever you’re at, Harry and Jimmy, eat your hearts out. I hope people realize what scum you are.’ Harrelson was momentarily silenced due to the unexpectedness of it. The comment was shown live on both SportsVision and Superstation WGN-TV which picked up SportsVision programming in the 9th inning of the Sox win over Seattle.)

February 21, 20197 yr This just gets more bizarre, every moment. Why would they make such a declaration? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say; "We don't comment regarding potential acquisitions". They might even add; "We made the mistake of doing that, in the case of Manny Machado, but going forward, we will not discuss our intentions." Perhaps they are sending a message to Boras, to counter what is likely the perceived notion that they are now desperate to land the one remaining "whale". Edited February 21, 20197 yr by Lillian
