May 19, 20196 yr Pilkington with 5 K’s in 3 innings. Lefty coming out of the SEC who can get breaking stuff over, going to be hard to gauge what we have there until he gets to AA.

I wonder when the lack of velocity catches up to him. Either way, much better than his high-A debut last week.

May 19, 20196 yr Yeah, for a lefty who has got two breaking balls, I wonder what's the minimum velocity he needs to be decent? Maybe he goes full Corbin and throws his fastball only when he absolutely has too?

May 19, 20196 yr Struck out the side for the 6th. Might be done for the day, but what a day it was. Good for him.
May 19, 20196 yr I'm just wondering what type of pitcher Pilkington will be if he ever regains his velocity.

I wonder what the thought process/plan was for him upon drafting. Are they working on something to regain that velocity? Delivery change? Something mechanical? Getting him on some sort of conditioning plan? He certainly looks like a dude that should be throwing harder than high 80's. Edited May 19, 20196 yr by DirtySox

With his track record, if Keuchel were throwing 93, he'd have a contract right now. Pilkington, similarly, is going to have to prove it and keep proving it. May not be fair, but that's the way it is.
May 19, 20196 yr Is Bryce Bush injured? I seem to recall him getting replaced a couple games ago, but I forgot to follow up.
