Goins Called Up; Minaya Clears Waivers, Outrighted to AAA

No Robert.

Let the tank continue

Would have been a mildly exciting move back in 2012...

The guy has been raking all season in AAA, fair to give him a little taste of the bigs as a reward.  Plus Goins is a great defensive SS, and Leury has not been good there and we can put him back in CF.  Goins will be gone when Timmy returns.

What a surprise to all of us no one wanted Minaya.

Yep. How exciting!

Where is all the minor league depth in the Sox supposed top 5 farm system?

It’s almost shocking what has happened to every player on this list from 2017, starting with Fulmer...the value of every single one of them has regressed, other than Omar Narvaez.

Of course, it doesn’t include Luis Robert, the Q trade, the 17/18/19 drafts (we all know the Burger story), Gonzalez/Rutherford/Walker, but WOW and not exactly in a good way.

Goins makes Yolmer look like a prime Robby Alomar.

I’ve seen enough of him that I wouldn’t lose sleep if we never see him pitch in a Sox uniform again.

I certainly wouldn't bat an eye either.  But certainly doesn't hurt to keep him in the org.

So of course it doesnt include their actual prospects but you wanted to be critical just for the sake of being critical. Makes sense.

Just took a look.

Spencer Adams was #10! Jacob May and Michael Ynoa made the cut. Pretty sure both of those guys are already out of professional baseball and it looks like Adams will be joining them soon.

I really hope JR is willing to throw down 300 to 400 million dollars in FA contracts over the next few offseasons. Relying solely on prospects is a recipe for disaster.

Seeing a new guy is always entertaining for a few games.  Nothing else to watch unless you have been anxiously awaiting the return of Castillo.

I told you like the Terminator he'd be back.

Yeah, most teams turn their #10 ranked prospect into MLB superstars.

The hilarious thing about being critical of this is that 2 of these guys are all-star caliber players lol. The 3rd looked great before TJ and the 4th is still in the big leagues showing flashes at times but lacking consistency.

Let the Ryan Goins era begin!! Who???

Great another marginal player called up......like we need another AAAA player on this team

There were posters here ripping the Sox for DFA'ing him and keeping Covey.

Goins?  I guess we need some of that priceless veteran leadership

lol.. dude sucks

I guess he fits perfectly then.

He was the Toronto SS before Tulo

A top #1-3 system in baseball better go deeper than the Top 4-5 guys in terms of impact.

We should be thankful we had those three guys to trade or we’d currently be on a 10-15 year rebuild and selling off Luis Robert after he hit arbitration eligibility to the highest bidder.

What? For one given year you think more than 4-5 people will make significant impact?
