  • This is the correct take. This trade is absolutely disgusting. It's a very poor use of resources. The Rangers are paying Nate Jones so that they can spend $1 million of their own money on internationa

Can't believe this topic has 5 pages. Here's a scenario.... Paddy says "I can sign X amount of 16 year olds for the last million but I don't really like any of them."  They go to Hostetler and sa

How am I supposed to bet the O/U of when he goes on the DL next year? Pay attention to the Rangers?

I forgot Nate Jones existed until right now.

Hmmm. strange.

Neither guy shows on the Rangers top 30 list with MLB.com, fwiw.

Castro is 22 and still in the DSL so he's probably not a real piece. Jarneski is 19 in the AZL and has pretty good numbers aside from a lot of walks.

Nor should they. Jones doesn't really hold any value at this point.

Well one is a 22 year old that's been in the DSL for 2 years

The fact that the Sox were able to get two warm bodies for a guy who can never stay on the field makes this a win.

I mean I didn‘t expect anything but salary relief, so getting two (probably) live bodies for him is a win in my book.

Damn surprised they were able to get SOMETHING for him. Nice, a couple lotto tix

Fine with me.... Jones just can't stay healthy. Shame.

Can our insiders can confirm that these two guys are in fact alive?

Apologies, I initially thought we were acquiring intl cash. THat would be crazy LOL, we already have yolbert, why use more?

Baseball-Ref pulls up nothing for Joe Jarneski, but Ray Castro has a 2.07 ERA as a 22 year old...in the Dominican League.

I was not insinuating that the return was strange, just that trading a pitcher that is out for the year and we were very likely to not pick up his option is strange.

Fore sure. Didn't mean anything by it. The way I read it sounded like you expected them to be.

Was Nate Jones the longest tenured player on the Sox? Abreu?

Ha, I was just about to say...it's Leury Garcia

Bad wording on my part.  Just meant that I wasn't expecting Jones to be traded today, that being what I found "strange".  Not the return.
