What's been happening with Sox prospects in the AFL lately? Haven't heard any updates in a while.

Here is a link.  Warning it is not particularly pretty

Blake Rutherford has started to improve. As of today. .343 OBP .486 SP,4 XBH's. .826 OPS

Another triple for Rutherford yesterday.  That's 3 in 10 games (which are kind of buoying his .825 OPS).

Adolfo with 3 hrs in 10 AFL games.  Now slashing .206/.325/.471.

Still way too many strikeouts.  The power is obvious, but the swing-and-miss in his game is going to prevent him from ever being an MLB regular.

He’s missed a ton of time though.  Next year will be huge for him and he really needs to make some progress in the swing & miss department.

Would like to see how he bounces back with consistent reps. He can strike out a lot and hit 40 Homer's and it won't matter. He has to make enough contact to get to his power though. He could run 30% k rates and still succeed probably

Micker also actually adds value defensively too which cant be overlooked.

In the AFL Fall Stars game Rutherford was 1/2 with a single .

Tyler Johnson pitched a perfect inning with a K.

I just saw the Adolfo article/video in Sox web site.  I had no idea he was that big.

It seems Tyler Johnson is the only Sox farmhand doing anything worth a crap.

I hate they started the league early.   Nothing like getting a baseball fix in Nov now gone.

How a player does in the AFL is kinda meaningless.  One year Engle lead the league in hitting.

One year Tyler Flowers tore the league up, average and power if I recall correctly

and he's been a 7 year MLB vet.

This is a pretty good list:

2018 -- Keston Hiura (Brewers), 2B, Peoria Javelinas
2017 -- Ronald Acuna (Braves, OF, Peoria Javelinas
2016 – Gleyber Torres (Yankees), SS, Scottsdale Scorpions
2015 -- Adam Engel (White Sox), OF, Glendale Desert Dogs
2014 -- Greg Bird (Yankees), 1B, Scottsdale Scorpions
2013 -- Kris Bryant (Cubs), 3B, Mesa Solar Sox
2012 -- Chris McGuiness (Rangers), 1B, Surprise Solar Sox
2011 -- Nolan Arenado (Rockies), 3B, Salt River Rafters
2010 – Dustin Ackley (Mariners), 2B, Peoria Javelinas

Remember Greg Bird absolutely tore up this league

I'd assume he's available in a trade (for some other team)...or maybe not with Encarnacion a FA

He may have a late career surge like Smoak but he’s been so injured and not that good when not injured.

The last time I went was in 2015 to check out Engle and he was coaching 3rd base.
