November 25, 20196 yr Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal · 7s #WhiteSox Gold Glove 2B Yolmer Sánchez on outright waivers, sources tell The Athletic. Loomed as non-tender candidate with @mlbtraderumors projecting him to earn $6.2M in arbitration. Available to any team in waiver process. CWS clears 40-man roster spot.
November 25, 20196 yr Technically this isn't being non-tendered, he is being played on out-right waivers. Basically means no one offered anything for him.
November 25, 20196 yr He'll be back I'm guessing. So weird to me how arb has made guys like yolmer and bullpen arms really expensive compared to starting pitchers who come off pretty cheap through their control years.
November 25, 20196 yr But don't worry everyone, $14M will be the going rate for a utility infield in within 24 months!

November 25, 20196 yr This must be roster space motivated, otherwise I am struggling to figure out what the benefit to outrighting him today is. Non-tender deadline is still a week from today, so unless the Sox think they need the roster spot like....today...not sure why you make this move today. Obviously they know at this point Yolmer didn't have any trade value, but still seems like interesting timing. Maybe a favor to Yolmer? This way if a team claims him, they owe him his final year of arb as opposed to being a FA and likely getting like half his projected arb? Just brainstorming on what the reasoning for making this move today might be.

I think this means Yolmer is as good as gone. If there was mutual interest in a deal like that, this move wouldn't be necessary.
November 25, 20196 yr Do not bring him back, time to move on......Needed 40 man move coming soon? Edited November 25, 20196 yr by Soxfest

November 25, 20196 yr harsh way to treat a guy that's been with the organization for 10 years guess his loyalty money went to abreu ?
November 25, 20196 yr Quick question...If they were going to do this early why not do it last week and protect someone else from rule 5?
November 25, 20196 yr Yolmer a great personality, great clubhouse player, good fielder. Wish him the best.
