White Sox vs Athletics: Reylo against Bassitt

Featured Replies

Bassitt is a nice reminder that the Sox made a lot of bad trades before the rebuild.  Or to put it more accurately: they made a lot of short sighted trades.  Bassitt would look pretty damn good as a cheap 5th starter this year.

Oh well, onwards!  Go Sox.

Anyone putting Bassitt in the rotation over Reylo is crazy, imo. Bassitt is 31 years old and he had one decent season with a 4.4 FIP and 2.1 fWAR. That was in Oakland as well - one of the easiest

I have moved on from the old bad trades, we got a good deal for Reylo too. Looking forward to see if his mechanical changes are effective today.

EE is back in the lineup, thought he would be out for a while longer

I think every single potential starter for the Sox this year is better than Bassitt.

That's excellent news.  As for Reylo, same.  Results don't matter.  Just go out and throw with good mechanics for a couple innings and call it a day.

Glad to see that they weren’t hiding a bigger issue with EE

Just getting to the game. Hope it’s a good one.

I'd take a guy coming off 144IP and a 4.4 FIP over Reylo and Gio, easy.

Bassitt is 31 years old and he had one decent season with a 4.4 FIP and 2.1 fWAR. That was in Oakland as well - one of the easiest parks to pitch in baseball.

Gio has been better pretty much every year - last year on a rate basis he was also better.

Lopez is young and already has a higher career fWAR than Bassitt and he has untapped potential. It would be bad for a team to give his innings to Bassitt who has a very limited ceiling and no further development likely.

When both Gios start the year on the IL and Kopech isn't allowed to make the team out of spring training Bassitt would look pretty nice.

Bad luck for Lopez so far

Lots of seeing eye grounders.

Infield single, stolen base, groundout, and a grounder back to the pitcher that ReyLo couldn't field cleanly, and its 1-0.

Madrigal should've had that grounder

That looked encouraging, Lopez was around the plate. Fastball was at 95 (according to the announcers)

Robert leads off the bottom of the 1st with a single up the middle.

Robert steals 2nd easily.

Robert safe by 87 feet on the steal attempt.

not a great AB from Madrigal.  Bassitt got exactly what he wanted.

2-1 sox!

Delmonico with the homer, making a strong case for the 26th man

Well damn!  Nick got all of that one!
