  • I just realized, if all games are in Arizona... Adam Engel is gonna be a god damn All Star.

  • Uh not me. I definitely want to see these dudes.

This is how I watch the World Series every year anyway, it makes zero difference to a lot of us

I think there is functionally no difference between not having a world series and having a virtual world series that everyone watches by themselves on their couch.

Except in 5 years no one remembers.. What's remembered by everyone, except ESPN, is that the Sox have 4 world series now.

I am actually kind of serious.. He would be a legit platoon maybe

Real talk.. IF the season gets completely postponed (unlikely i know), are the contracts of guys like Encarnacion and Gio Gonzalez to name a few still guaranteed for 2021 or can we "cut" them?  Or how will that work?  Because we will have little need for either in 2021.

It's not, but it's different. Heat+no humidity+fast infields=very different baseball

This is the most bizarre take ever.  You'd rather play no games, than play one season with different park effects?

I don't think that is remotely true. These are the most extraordinary set of circumstances any of has ever encountered.

hmm I'd disagree. This World series (whoever wins it) wont have some astericks next to it

I think both have team options for 2021, so the Sox could get rid of them if they wanted to.

We're not going to forget that World Series was spent on the couch scratching our balls instead of with our friends, parents, significant others. The memories I have from '05 are just as much if not more tied to the people I shared it with than the games themselves.

The Sox with out Sox fans aren't any different than any other bunch of millionaires playing a game.

I'll take it because I want to watch baseball, but the results are essentially meaningless to me.

WWII much?

I am under the impression there are very few people on here that are 80 years old.

I'd hazard a guess less than 5% of the US population is old enough to remember WWII, it might even be less.  If you were 18 in 1943 and served a bit you're now 91.

So doesn't really apply.

Right, but does 2020 if it's never played even count towards their contract?

Well do we put an astericks next to whoever won those championships?  I don't think so.. Which is kinda the point

Hello no, I don't get some people.  You play 100 games, you win the World Series you're the champs man.

Well one, those seasons were played in full, at home, in front of fans. So it's not a good comparison in the first place.

Two. I never said I want an asterisk. I just don't personally give a shit about the results of what happens in a bubble season. It's glorified spring training to me.

Then don't watch I guess lol

I watched meaningless baseball for ten years, not going to stop now.

I guarantee you Micheal Kopech out throwing slinging seeds at 100mph against Mike Trout, even in front of no fans, isn't some "bubble season".  It's pro sports.

Try 95.

Right and I'll watch and be entertained.

But losing out on the attended games, the packed bars, celebrations with friends etc. will make any success 99% less enjoyable to me.

I'm trying to picture Paulie's WS GS in an empty stadium. Doesn't have quite the same feel to it.

That's what I'm sayin

"It was one of his favorite phrases and he often repeated it: "after awhile, you could get used to anything". -Camus

It will take about a week of games with no fans before everybody has "gotten used to it".
