Sox call up Luis Gonzalez

Featured Replies

Good for Engel for speaking up. With that said, the Sox have to start being more careful during games. No reason everyone in the dugout isn’t wearing masks, and even for those that are, they need to wear them properly.

  • Very excited for Luis. I’ve always been higher on him than most.

  • Jose Abreu

Not to mention, league average OPS in the Southern League was .683. You obviously want a real prospect to be well above that, but given that he profiles as a defense-first guy with some on-base skills

  • As much as i shill for Yermin, you gotta give Collins a chance first. This team desperately needs another lefty bat. Having a high OBP, lefty bat at 1B/DH/C would be great. I'm not convinced Yermin ca

So that explains the lack of a roster move.

Not that I think this an option, but when do you dfa/release Edwin? That would also open up at bats and make the team more flexible.

Not in 2021

They won’t release him but if he doesn’t pick it up this week, you have to start giving his at bats to others.

Makes more sense with Engel going to IL.

Yes people in the Sox organization need to realize that you can also breathe through your nose. Lookin' at you Don Cooper!

He's had 35 PA's and he had no real spring training.

Encarnacion, sorry wasn’t clear

What if Engel hung out with Plesac and Clevinger omg the gossip

So no talk of Dunning likely making his debut on Wednesday against Mize? Looking forward to that one!

And we face a lot of lefties this week, yay

Should just bring up Yermin and DFA Cuthbert and throw him out in RF against the lefties for now. Half kidding and know it would be super ugly, but Mazara may as well be swinging a pool noodle against a lefty.

RR mentioned it was possible the other day.  No real rumors or news beyond that.

Hahn pretty much alluded to it. Made a new thread.

I think that is who he was talking about, even if the actual total is 50 PAs over 22 games.  He is a big guy with a long swing, who had no spring training to speak of.  A slow start isn't a huge shock.

I would rather see Gonzalez then Mazara right now

One thing possibly worth mentioning, Gonzalez actually has reverse splits and has hit lefties better than righties for his career splits. Granted, we're talking about only 306 AB's, but he might actually be a better option against some lefties than Mazara.
