Getting Aaron Bummer back is HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. What a boost to the pitching staff. Moves everyone up an inning and gives you absurd depth from the left side.

Can you please stop with all the whining Longo?

Bummer just activated as was Rodon. Cishek and Detwiler gone.

Really shocked it wasn't Ruiz.

Me too.  Detwiler has real value on this roster.

Like the return of Bummer, but what the hell is Rodon going to provide at this point, beyond, blowing bubbles in the bullpen. He sucked ass his only two starts.

Will someone explain to me how Crochet can be considered an injury replacement if Marshall, Bummer and Rodon all come back?

Detwiler is going the wrong way and has a history showing that wrong way is really him.  He's probably better than Ruiz. Cishek is probably better than Ruiz, but it's close enough for a who cares?

What do you mean exactly?

The pen is starting to get crowded. Gotta imagine when Marshall comes back, he replaces Stiever.

Ruiz is probably getting ready to get tapped on the shoulder when Marshall comes back

I think Stiever was sent down when Keuchel returned

Wasn't Stiever already sent to Woodfield Mall?

It's not about who you replace, it's about an injury forcing a guy onto the roster making him eligible for postseason play.

right, what I mean is i thought Crochet would be playoff eligible as an injury replacement and I do not understand how that works if the guys he was "replacing" come back.

Yes, he will have to turn in his playbook.

Ruiz is gone too, the order didn't really matter. Sox had three lefties with Fry, Bummer and Crochet all ahead of Detwiler.

You are correct. My bad.

Pretty sure I read somewhere last week that said if you're in the pool of 60 players, you're post-season eligible. It's a weird year. Also explains why Vaughn is eligible. It's a weird year so regular rules don't apply.

It's not about who you are replacing; the person is irrelevant. Rule is just written for this year if an injury forces a player onto the roster in the final 30 days, then said player is now postseason eligible.

Vaughn is a part of the final 40 man pool the Sox had to submit for the playoffs. Vaughn can only be placed on the roster in the playoffs for injury/COVID related reasons (I believe).

If a player was called up in the month of September for an injury related reason, they are automatically eligible for the playoffs even if no injury occurs within the playoffs. Both rules are related.

Not shocked they cut Cishek after they cut Herrera.

Ruiz is likely gone when Marshall comes up, as others pointed out.

I get that, I just hope Ricky doesn't get tossed and Super Joe thinks Ruiz is a good idea vs. Jose Ramirez with the game on the line tonight.

One added bit; a position player has to replace a position player, and a pitcher has to replace a pitcher. A reliever getting hurt couldn't lead to the Sox activating Vaughn for example.
