It's looking like whoever wins the division will end up as the 2nd seed and play the 7th seed. We'll either end up playing the Indians if we win the division, the Yankees if we end up in 2nd, or the Twins if we end up in 3rd.

There is no benefit for them to do so. Teams 5 through 8 are all the same basically right now. And there is no HFA for the 2nd seed if they meet them in the NLDS.
