Sugano has apparently decided to pass on joining the American nightmare and is reportedly returning to the NPB. His posting deadline passed at 5 pm.

Yep. He wanted to beat Kikuchi's deal with Seattle. Picked a bad year to come over. Luckily, he got 4 years and 3 opt outs with his old team.

It could be worse. You could be a White Sox fan watching a team in the beginning stages of completely squandering a window because ownership is too chicken shit to take a risk to win a championship. A

You're right. Adding Darvish and Snell doesn't move the needle much.

Eager to see the terms of this.  While we needed a RF, I just have a feeling the Eaton deal will look like an overpay when all is said and done this offseason and this Schwarber deal may support that.

This is part of the price they pay when they jump in early to target players and not wait for the market. Sometimes they will overpay, sometimes under but at least they have a player they liked and aren't waiting it out like the others.

Wow, Schwarber got $10M...that’s slightly more than he was projected to get in arbitration.

He got $10M.  He was projected to get $7-$9M in arbitration so he gets released and makes more money.  The system is so fucked up.

Appreciably more than I thought he would get.  No interest from me at that price.

Free agency works apparently.

This is this guy?  Looks like James was speculating it may involve Contreras if legit.

I know it's not us...but I wish it was.  Contreras is good.

...we have a starting catcher already.

Yeah...I know.  I am one of the people who wanted both Grandal & McCann.  Still like two strong catchers.

They wouldn't give up prospects for a guy who would be a backup catcher.

Sounds more like Bryant is being traded. I’m guessing Phillies

Interesting...can’t wait to see what they get in return if true.

Despite all the reports, I still think it’s the Mets. Phillies cried poor earlier this offseason. They can’t absorbs that contract and the Cubs aren’t going to have money coming back.

The Mets are $24M below the luxury tax threshold and would probably prefer someone who can play CF, so I’m guessing it’s not them.

Right now JR has sent a couple of expensive bottles of champagne to KW and RH for ridding him of this.
