His fastball is fine. It’s all about developing the secondary stuff with Crochet

I think it’s more about commanding the fastball.  He’s getting less swings on it this year because it’s slower and out of the zone. Seems he got more chases last year on it.

Cease gives up the cheapest homer you will ever see and the Sox had a few misplays during a stretch where they looked as sharp as ever.   Let‘s have a look at soxtalk.

I love watching Sox bullpen get it done

Quit waiting for him to throw 100 again it's not coming back. He's going to top out at 98-99 and that's fine.

Biggest thing for Crochet next spring is to find a changeup grip that actually gets it in the 87-89 range in games.

Why is his high end velocity gone forever?

If he's gonna hang around there as a starter, I would have no problem with it. It's just weird how he's basically a 1 inning reliever and sits around 95-97 most of the time.

Because I think it was a result of him being unusually fresh+adrenaline last year. He'd thrown so few innings.

Gavin's had a couple of close calls today. 2 warning track shots.

Sheets and Goodwin with nice ABs but nothing to show for it today

He usually sits 96-97. He has games where he's 95-96 and games where he's 97-99.

It‘s by design. You don’t lose 5-6mph off your fastball just like that.

I’ll still can’t believe we DFAed Eaton before the All Star break.

That would make sense actually if they still see him as a starter. This might be where he's going to work. The other thing is that he was injured last year in the playoffs and this is just where he is post-injury.

Or injury.

I'm guessing the former though.

With Liam coming into this one, I'm totally fine if he doesn't throw Tuesday

Yeah, Goodwin and Hamilton staying on the roster over him was quite the surprise, but they have earned it.

I hope none of our pitchers throw in the ASG.

I don’t know why, but whenever I see a guy named Wells throwing in a game, I am thinking of Casper Wells. That must have been quite traumatic for me ?

Which is funny cause he was throwing 96 in game 3 of the playoffs last year and the coaching staff was freaked out.

I’m fine with it as I think they’re better role players, but still totally surprised by it.

Ump missed another call...

this umpire is absolute shit

he gone

This had been a really well umpire'd series, but this home plate ump today is not good.

Filthy

Why throw a slider to someone that was so lost vs a fastball yesterday?
