July 13, 20214 yr The way too early Jan 2022 list, our top 10 could look like: 1. Montgomery 2. Colas 3. Kath 4. Cespedes 5. Kelley 6. J Rod 7. Adolfo 8. Ramos 9. Vera 10. Burke I would say there is very little separation between the top 4-5, which is really saying we have a group of 55 FV prospects with no elite prospects (yet). Overall this is a more promising list than what we started the year with (without considering the graduates)

Maybe he thought he could get more money than we were willing to offer, and when he couldn't he came back around to us? Or we were planning on spending on someone in an earlier round and they got taken before we could get them, so we had more available to get to his number. Edited July 14, 20214 yr by GenericUserName
July 14, 20214 yr The team negotiates with agents and families at every minute during the draft. When they come to terms they draft them immediately in the next round. My understanding it’s not about the round after 10 it is when the player agrees that he will sign.

I'd bet against the farm improving much during our competitive window. Prospects will be used in trades to bolster the MLB roster. It's the reality of building a championship club outside of the Dodgers/Rays, who are in another league in terms of scouting/development.
