10/1: Houston wrapped up the AL West last night, and one more win by Houston or loss by the Sox will lock Houston in as the #2 seed, with Tampa Bay already having clinched the #1 seed. New Y

What if the Sox clinch in the first game of Thursday's DH? How would that work? Can't really do the full-blown clubhouse celebration with another game to play in 90 minutes.

Not sure why one would spike the “comeback”  for a game which they had a lead, pissed it away, and then reclaimed it in the final two innings.
Didn’t count that game among their nine lost games after 7 either, since they didn’t lose. Both stats are consistently derived (games tied after 7 innings omitted, only leads considered (behind or ahead).

Seems that the point is that whether the lead was lost in the 6th inning as opposed to the 8th inning does not diminish the comeback later in the game.

Sure they can. Whoever can walk without falling over plays. ?

That  would work out well. My dream scenario is that the Sox win out two out of three in Detroit, and Cleveland sweeps KC. Then the Sox beat the Indians to clinch. Win without scoreboard watching and win on their own to show they are more than winners of a weak division. They should want to do it this way. Then they can celebrate all they want.

Doubt there will be games in Detroit and Cleveland on Wednesday. Hopefully they can play Tuesday night.

Yes, it would be sweet to clinch in Cleveland.

Astros aren't exactly playing great ball down the stretch either. If the Sox could just sustain a 4-5 game winning streak they will be right there.

26 games combined for the Astros and White Sox. 17 of them have to be Sox wins or Astros losses in order for the Sox to be the 2-seed. Not happening.

Indians/Royals doubleheader starts in an hour.

Sox lineup is out. Goodwin batting 9th at DH. Hope the Sox get the one-game sweep and MLB doesn’t make them go back next Monday.

The radar doesn't look good for either Detroit or Cleveland.

They wouldn't schedule playoff teams for makeup games unless it affected seeding.

That’s the thing though. If Astros/Sox is mathematically still a thing, then they may make the Sox take the short flight from Cleveland to Detroit and play two 7-inning games next Monday. They tend to want to get the games in until they can’t.

Wouldn't they do head to head records?

With Perez chasing HR and RBI titles, KC figures to play him every day vs CLE, so that's nice.

1-0 KC

Nope. Replay. 0-0

He's been dreadful in general.

Dozier homers. 2-0 Royals

McKenzie doesn't have his fastball velocity today. Down 1 MPH on the fastball and hanging breaking pitches. So the Royals might have a shot.
