Hahn is the best in the biz at begging the question.
That "explanation" explains nothing.

He basically said we don't want him at 18 million, but if his best offer is 1 year and 10 million, we are back in.

  • TL;DR RH: Something something obviously disappointed something something something nobody is more disappointed than Jerry, Kenny, and myself something something our window is just starting to ope

  • If Hahn leaves I'll write JR another letter requesting to be interviewed for the GM job.

  • I mean, sure, in hindsight this all seems crystal clear, but: - Is a 0.52 ERA sustainable? Probably not. But I'd argue that just as few people anticipated an ERA over 5 the rest of the way.

Great another year shitty defense behind home plate.

Bah, Rick Hahn is not going to tell you they’re signing a catcher even if they’re signing one tomorrow. Aside from December 2018 where he confusingly gave away both of his catchers.

Maybe Carlos Perez will be ready next season. Hopefully he's solid behind the plate.

Manny Pina could probably be had @ $2 - 2.5 mil. There are 2 or 3 other similar catchers on the market. Collins has been in the system for awhile now and his bat is worth something, but is there really a place for him on this roster? Or are the Sox going to keep yo-yoing him between AAA-ML hoping that he becomes a ML catcher?

You never devalue your players by ripping them in the media.  What else is he supposed to say?  I’d wager large sums of money that Collins and/or Zavala is traded and a veteran catcher is brought in.

I don’t think they’d elevate him straight to the major league roster, but he’s probably going to be the 3rd or 4th catcher on the depth chart next year.

Stop me if you have heard this one before...

The article references the phrase, “gaping hole.” I’ve heard that one before.
