October 14, 20214 yr The fall league is here. Any interest on who to watch? I've only been to one game and that season Engel lead the league in hitting. It gives me a chance to catch the last of any organized baseball.
October 14, 20214 yr Only two Sox players in action tonight: Johan Dominguez is the starting pitcher and Yoelqui Cespedes is the leftfielder. He is 0-1 with an rbi.
October 14, 20214 yr The Sox sent Johan Dominguez, Youlqui Cespedes, Caleb Freeman, McKinley Moore, JB Olson, Jose Rodriguez, and Yolbert Sanchez Rodriguez: 1/2 Sanchez: 1/2 Cespedes :1/4 2B RBI Dominguez: 2 IP 2H 1ER 1HR 1BB 3 SO WIN
October 14, 20214 yr Author Great info. I actually titled this thread wrong. So are these choices are guys not rehabbing?
October 19, 20214 yr Nice write up on Jose Rodriguez who hit a granny yesterday in the AFL. Interview is also on video at the same link with Danny Farquhar doing the interpreting for Jose. When was the last time the Sox had a 20 yr old climb 3 levels in a season and then jump into the AFL ? Jose is is a very exciting prospect. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/jose-rodriguez-showcases-power-bat-for-glendale?t=arizona-fall-league-coverage Edited October 20, 20214 yr by CaliSoxFanViaSWside forgot link

There was a time people were down on Robert (not me), but he was always hurt and his initial year didn't show a lot. I always say when you get these guys, give them a year to acclimate to the culture, get back to routines/develop new routines, etc. Hopefully we see him take a big step forward next year.

I think age is a big diff here, as well as much less exciting cuban league track record. The idea with him was he remade his body, and he did hit for more power than in Cuba. But there is reason for doubt here.
October 20, 20214 yr Alright, I just watched the interview with Rodriguez and love that Desert Dog cap he and Farquar are wearing. Gotta find me one in a curved brim. Edited October 20, 20214 yr by wegner

He only got a brief taste of AA so we will have to see how he does there next year. That level should be his biggest challenge. Yolbert Sanchez ,who played very well in AA after his promotion and Romy Gonzalez will perhaps get a shot and both should be in Spring Training . Edited October 20, 20214 yr by CaliSoxFanViaSWside

October 26, 20214 yr Little AFL Update: Jose Rodriguez went 2 for 5 to bring his OPS up to .681. Rodriguez is just 20 years old, making him the youngest on the Devil Dogs. Im definitely impressed with this showing. Yoelqui Cespedes went 1 for 4 and has on OPS of .580. He has 1 XBH (a double) in 30 ABs. His OPS has greatly benefited from his 3 HBPs as he has zero walks to 10ks. Not ideal. Yolbert Sanches didn't play today. He's 2 for 10 in AFL play Johan Dominguez started had an impressive line of : 3IP 2H 1ER 1BB 5 Ks. His ERA is still over 11 for the AFL, but this outing was a great sign. J.B Olson struck out the only batter he faced. Olson has a 4.5 ERA in 6IP so far this fallwith 5 K's to 1 BB. He's 26 years old, but missed one season to injury and obviously lost another to COVID. McKinley Moore didn't pitch but has a 5.40 ERA in 3.1 IP. He's a true reliever that finished the year in high A as a 22 year old. Caleb Freeman didn't pitch either. He has an AFL line of : 3.2 IP 3H 1ER 4BB 2SOs. Freeman had a nice finish to the year and recorded a 2.70 ERA in AA in 14 relief appearances.
