Jon Gray signs with the Rangers

I’ll wait to see the terms first, but the player makes a ton of sense for the Rangers.

4 years, totally different market when half the teams are trying to wjn

Sheesh. This is the kind of signing I want no part of, honestly.

4 years? Yuck

4/56, pretty good for Gray. Assume any moderately successful SP starts at $12M this offseason.

Woof. That is terrible, but leave it to Texas to sign bad deals.

?  Lance Lynn, Mike Minor, & Kyle Gibson were all amazing B/C tier signings that paid off in spades.

I wonder how long Hahn has to hold on to Giolito before he gets flipped.  I can't imagine we meet his fair market price.

I'm saying, leave it to Texas to sign bad deals, so we don't have to.

Now, I’m worried. I was hoping the Sox would sign him.

Gotta say, going from Colorado to a great pitcher's park in Texas could make 4 years $56 mil look pretty good for the Rangers. They might be able to flip him in 2 years for a haul if they aren't competitive by then.  It's a gamble, but may end up being a pretty good one.

Makes no sense Rockies didn’t trade or QO him.

Except statistically, he has been WORSE away from home. I hate the signing, and glad it was someone else, but who knows, it may completely turn him.

I think he’s interesting. He faded hard which may be a 2021 problem, but changed his arsenal. Not crazy about his stuff, but heard he made his FB fit coors. Maybe he can get more rise out of it

He might turn out being a good sign. Rockies pitchers can be hard to judge.

He's got a pretty good ground ball rate; he's been a 2-3 WAR pitcher, except for 2020.
Doesn't seem that objectionable to me.

He also went to OU like Hansen, so never underestimate comfort factor, Arlington being so close to Shawnee…just down I-35 a few hours.  Not to mention OKC had Rangers connections through the 89ers for years and years, 85% must grow up Rangers’ fans in that area, the rest KC, Houston, Rockies or Cardinals.
