Does anyone have any idea what the oversized bases deal is about?  Like what does that do for anyone?  Why does it need to change?  Anyone have any insight at all?  

The main idea to prevent injuries, but also to hopefully push the stolen base back into usage.

How much bigger are we talking here? Is it a big deal?

The pics I've seen on twitter don't make it look that much bigger.  Noticeable but I wouldn't call it absurdly large.

While they were at it, they should’ve done something about the size of first base and clear up the throwing lane rule.

Seems like something I'll never notice, so i won't waste time caring.

I understand making 1B a little bigger to hopefully avoid injury but the other bases I just don't see the reason

The larger base will probably make it easier for a stealing runner to hold the base while the tag is applied.  Replay and the hi def cameras turned a lot of safe calls in to outs.

Angel Hernandez has been working with a larger home plate for years.

This is a good change. Sometimes optimization in sports requires rule changes. Steals are exciting, this will help create more excitement. Same with banning the shift next year. and personally as a fan of team with Luis Robert anything that prevents him from ripping that thumb again I'm 100% behind.
