What makes the difference between a good and manager?    What has LaRussa done this year so for that makes you believe he’s still one of the best?

I was just thinking of a time very late in Ray Meyer's coaching career at Depaul when his team was floundering in the NCAA tournament again.  It was on a timeout and I guess his players were joking around so much in the huddle that he had to call them out  "do you think this is funny?"  Anyway I just thought about that because he was a legendary coach, up in years, who's teams had all the talent in the world but never really won a damn thing.

  • He has one of the best eyes in baseball, is your highest paid hitter, and the pitcher on the mound can't find the zone.  But @greg775 told me TLR is a great manager, it can't be debated!

TLR can straight go F himself. Leury in any spot but 8th or 9th shows the game has passed him by and we are not a world series caliber team with him as manager.

I think at 76 years old, Tony probably isn't one of the best. Just my opinion, there were much better choices. But some of the best managers will not even make the playoffs .  How often do last place managers win Manager of the Year? The talent is more important than the manager but the most talented teams also need a good manager to win a World Series.  Yankees are a great example.  The Sox talent should be enough to get them into the playoffs. After that, talent, a good manager and some luck wins a championship.  We will see how Tony does this year since hopefully it is his last.

He turns 78 at the beginning of the playoffs this year, btw.

Hubie Brown is doing NBA color in the playoffs. He is 88.  Jerry Reinsdorf is 86 and he hired him. Tony may have a longer shelf life than us fans want.  They  all must be taking viagra for the brain.

Not much evidence that it's working. Maybe they've been doing the Nugenix thing instead.

I think the players lost faith in their manager or there some kind of rift going on between management, the front office and ownership. There’s definitely something going on that’s causing a distraction.

It is time to pull a “Collison” like the Blackhawks did, and ask TLR to resign and move on to a new manager before it is too late.

I don't think any of us foresaw defense THIS bad. It's like the entire infield forgot how to field and throw because they got 2 days off.

It has been the Keystone cops defense these last few games.

Yet Garcia will be in lineup tomorrow

If he is hopefully will not be hitting 2 nd or 3rd, which is managerial malpractice.

Just hoping that this is the low point for the entire season.
