Should have done it with two outs instead for more drama lol.

Wow. This and the US/Ven game were two of the best games I’ve seen in years.

It’s just funny listening to Smoltz try not to go on a rant about anyone celebrating. He’s just awful

Hard to feel too sorry for Astros and Mets with their injuries compared to a small market star like a Jose Ramirez going down.

That said...if the US doesn't win against Japan, how many owners will be willing to potentially sacrifice their $30+ million starting pitchers?

Not many will think it's as important as the Asian and Latin American players do to win the WBC no matter what.

-------wrong game sorry

A fitting end, the two best baseball teams colliding.  Should be an interesting match.  Darvish has familiarity with all these players and vice versa.  The US is sending a mid pitcher against the Japanese staff.  Who will blink first?

I’m now seeing that Japan is going to start Shota Imanaga? Which is interesting. He throws like 91 but there’s something about his fastball that seems to make it exceptionally hard to square up.

Also he's a lefty but apparently is hell on righties. Should be interesting - guessing he'll have a short leash with Darvish and Ohtani in reserve.

This is like how Argentina is good with Messi. France is good with Mbappe. But PSG, which has them both on it, is not that good (at least in Champions League).

Makes a lot of sense that you try to go with the unfamiliar pitcher and sneak 2+ innings in.

A different version of going to Crochet early in Game 3 against the A's.

Or even Ohtani depending on matchup/situations.

Then bring in Darvish as the brudge to get to the last 2-3 innings of the game.

Rain delay of course?

South Florida.

Just says delay at MLB.com.

Here we go !

I hope the Japanese manager's strategy of changing starting pitcher to Imanaga backfires.

Imanaga has better stuff than just about every starter on the US.

Turner is on some kind of heater

Trea Turner has been unreal in bracket play.

Unreal

Trea should've worn a Team USA shirt under his uniform in the playoffs last year.

TA doesn't care what your splits are. If you're a lefty he's getting a hit off you.

TA right up the middle.

That looked way better off the bat

I totally expected it to carry out
