Regardless of our apathy, it's a White Sox Winner!

Joe Kelly might net a nice return.....if they aren't just looking to shred salary. Gotta get some decent prospects when trading off bullpen pieces this time.

You won't get anything more than a C prospect for him. He's not even close to the level of the guys Hahn pawned off in the ultimately worthless Rutherford trade. The sad thing is we do not have many trade assets. Every single one of our guys other than maybe Robert and Cease have middling value. We do not have a Sale this time of around to get back two top 20 guys. We don't even really have an Adam Eaton.

Well f*** it then....you've convinced me to root for them to win the Division now 😎

Sun-Times post game story. I wonder if Grifol made his comment with a straight face:

"But this being the Sox, they couldn’t avoid bad news. Before the game, the Sox put second baseman Elvis Andrus (strained left oblique) on the 10-day injured list after he hurt himself during his final at-bat Friday. Andrus, who was replaced on the roster by utility player Romy Gonzalez, is hitting .201 in 39 games but represents another Sox regular to miss time this season.

‘‘Just give an opportunity to somebody else to come in and do the job,’’ Grifol said. 😆

Anderson is closest to Eaton but less control and down this year performance wise.

Speaking of NY, Robertson is still throwing 93 mph cutters but Kahnle has battled so many injuries/career setbacks.

Jim Cordero is pitching for the Yanks and got the win today against the Rays. He was throwing 96-97 .

Wow I didn't know Elvis was out 10 days. Just release him after he recovers or let him play in AAA; seems like a nice guy.

I like the win in a snappy 2.5 hours. Too bad the team stinks but the win was great. Seemed like a lot of fans were there. We do have great fans. Let's realize that.

I'm still doing that although it looks highly unlikely that things will turn around especially without Eloy however long it takes him to return.

Yep, it takes some mental gymnastics but a little over. 500 gets you into the division race. And if they ever got there they'd have to win at quite a clip now so they'd be hot. Way more than doubtful at this point but what the hell....better than rooting for a high draft pick that they'll probably imo.

I disagree. It depends how you are defining a C prospect. Is that your A or high A prospect that has tons of potential? We need those too! Kelly is not Adam Eaton and we don't need the type of Eaton return in a potential Kelly trade to grade it successful. Regardless of whatever you get for Kelly, you need to get rid of him this year and get something. Kelly is 34 years old and turning 35 in 3 weeks and he is not going to be around for the rebuild. I doesn't matter if the tradeable players on this team other than Robert and Cease are of lesser trade value as you claim...they need to be traded and get something.

If Kelly continues to pitch like this and hopefully Grifol doesn't overuse him, I believe he could bring in a few young prospects. From 6 outings ago, Kelly was pitching horrible with a 9.82 ERA and everyone one here wanted him gone. In his last 5 outings, he has gone 5.2 innings 0 ER's with 10K's and lowered his ERA to 3.86 and pitching like the Kelly we signed. If he is pitching strong at the deadline, some contending team with a weakness in their middle to late bullpen, will be willing to give up something of value, even if it's a only couple of talented and highly regarded  A, high A. or AA young future prospects. They don't have to be "ready now" prospects. They can help us in 2025-2027.

We all need to keep in mind that the Sox farm system is one of the worst in baseball! It needs to be fixed and it's not going to happen in one or two quick years.

Sadly much of what should happen ideally will probably be smothered because we still have the worst POS owner, who probably won't get rid of Hahn. Even when he does, he will wait too long.

Yay...they won a game. Yawn.

It's also yawn worthy reading about high draft picks and selling off assets this early in the season . Assets should always be traded off ,especially at high value , to bring in young talent. Sucks for fans who hate to see stars leave but necessary to keep a consistent flow of incoming talent. But talent evaluators and developers must be top notch and must be heavily involved with international talent, not just Cubans and Venezuelans.

You do your best to imitate the Rays. The D backs, pirates, Orioles all climbing that ladder now.

Turn cheap talent into high priced desired talent to obtain more cheap talent. I don't understand why this concept never appealed to Reinsdorf.

Don't be so quick to praise the Rays. They have enjoyed one advantage most of the league has struggled with this season - relative health. The stars play virtually every game but the storm clouds are brewing. Brandon Lowe is gone for the season and the Rays are starting to experience pitching problems. Since their 13-0 start, they have lost series to the Yankees, Orioles, Jays, and Astros. If Franco and/or Arozarena miss any significant time, that sparkling 30-11 record likely will take a serious hit. Of course, the Rays are better coached and managed so they would still be competitive.

As for the Pirates and Orioles, both teams were gawd-awful for over a decade. Eventually you do find cheap talent with decent depth... unless you are Rick Hahn and the Sox. Still, not sure the Sox have the marketability to withstand a decade of losing but, alas, here we are.

I'm not just praising the Rays for their performance this year. They are in the toughest division in baseball and despite their woeful payroll and attendance they have found a formula that has allowed them to compete year in and year out with the big spenders and they stick to it. They have been to the playoffs 7  times since 2008 in that division . That's quite an accomplishment given how little money they have to spend and is a testament to their ability to develop talent and trade off the talent for new talent.

It's only with quality people working behind the scenes that they can pull it off.
