October 31, 200322 yr As far as Jose knowing anything about what's going on with Bartolo he probably heard that from a writer and is repeating, or read ncorgbl's song My guess is they want to get a manager in here first, then look at our top line players and then look at Jose. He's at least priority three. I liked his leadership last year and atittude. We're not going to be fielding gold gloves in every position and I thought he was serviceable at SS. He's willing to take a pay cut to stay, I think that means something and it aint all economic.

October 31, 200322 yr Regarding JosE6 Valentin, I like to refer to an old quote I heard from Jim Ross ( WWF announcer ): "I'd like to buy him for what he's worth and sell him for what he THINKS he's worth!" I don't know if there's ever been a player who overestimates his value more than Valentin. A mouthy, subpar fielder, low average hitter who can't recognize or address his obvious weaknesses ( such as RH batting ). I hope he's gone for good. I won't miss him.

Somehow the Sox will give him more then he's worth, just because they seem to have one of the dumbest salary analysts when it comes to valuing a players market value. If they aren't worth what they are asking, then don't freaking sign them.
