Watching this years derby, the swings necessarily came so fast you couldn't even watch the majestic trajectory of the home runs. The pitchers ability to consistently groove a perfect pitch and the batters ability to cycle into preparedness for the pitches was more important than a hitters long ball talent. I was working out at my club before the derby. They had old highlights of the HR derby. You make a great point.
