When you have the opportunity to plug in a .636 OPS hitting, 28 year old first baseman into RF where he's -5 OAA, you have to jump on that.

Yeah, it feels that way.  My theory was they were waiting to fire him until after the streak ended to avoid putting that burden on the interim guy.

I'd like to know what direction he's been given. If the interim is going to be held to inning management, whose starting, etc. It's probably not worth it besides something to talk about.
