I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to keep finding ways to stick up for an organization that has totally collapsed.

I'll do my guy a favor and save @WestEddy some time for writing his own reply, and do it for him, because I'm a mensch.

"I'M NOT STICKING UP FOR THEM? WHERE DID I SAY I WAS STICKING UP FOR THEM? WAS IT WHEN RICK HAHN ACQUIRED AN OVER THE HILL KEVIN YOUKILIS? WAS IT WHEN ELOY JIMENEZ DIED IN LEFT FIELD? STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH, I'VE BEEN INCREDIBLY CLEAR ON THIS, EVEN THOUGH I DEFLECT CONSTANTLY AND HAVE NEVER ANSWERED A QUESTION WITH A DIRECT ANSWER IN MY LIFE. WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT MY POSITION?"

What would have to happen for some of these guys to lose faith in this regime?

I believe that Cleveland and Seattle teams in the 90's set the modern day records for winning percentage and total wins, and I can't seem to find if they won a World Series in there. Maybe you can help me with that. Did the Cleveland team or the Mariners (or even Padres, for that matter) win a World Series when they were setting win records? So, Bad-res' fans can be happy for a while, kind of like Europeans in the late 1920's.

I called Crochet a great pitcher. I don't care where Haber or Hahn or KW work, now. Neither should you. There's a great deal of evidence that Getz belongs in his current position. The biggest piece is the fact that he currently holds that position with a major league team. Then, the fact that many respected baseball people have come to the White Sox based on Getz being GM. Rebuilding teams lose more games than they win. So, yeah, we're going to endure a couple losing seasons while the new international scouting department, pitching lab, hitting lab, DR facility, and all start developing their prospects up the ladder. (I'm sure there's something I didn't mention. I assume that I don't have to retype all of baseball history in order to not have "missed" something.)

Getz currently holds the position of White Sox GM because Jerry Reinsdorf gave him the job undeservedly without interviewing a second candidate.  Enough with this BS.  We all know this is fact.

We have to endure a couple losing seasons?  Okay, we are on the second losing season under Getz, so next year will be a winning season?  Sure…  more BS…

You will still be making excuses for Getz well into his fourth consecutive losing season in 2027.

Probably Jerry firing Getz, and people simply supporting the next guy, blindly, because if he's good enough to be the GM of the White Sox, he's good enough for them.

Nah they’d still blame Jerry and say Getz had a raw deal.

The Astros had 3 horrible losing seasons. I'm not sure what you think interviewing others was going to do. He has the job. He's on a tiny budget. You want him to play guys you have declared to not be baseball players, so that says to me you really aren't one to pontificate on this.

Most of what you guys call "making excuses" is me pointing out that you wanting Getz to start guys you already believe suck makes no logical sense.

The team is in a rebuild. If you don't understand what that entails, maybe baseball isn't the game for you. Have you looked into competitive knitting?

wait is this a real thing

Getz will easily match that, and he’s on pace to break last year’s loss record.  There’s bad teams and there’s all-time record setting putrid teams.

Yep, I started a knitting team and brought in someone from Joann Fabrics who was fired and an assistant manager from Michaels because they believe in my vision.

And none of that matters. It's a rebuild.

Professional knitter here.  Would appreciate some respect on the sport, we are starting to get more pub, we are in advanced discussions to be aired on The Ocho

Sure, and when almost every player underperforms and you can’t add to the farm system, it does matter.

None of it matters, yet no other GM with a rebuilding team has managed to do it.

Can't get fleeced in trades if you don't have anyone worth trading for

WE will still be using the rebuild excuse in 2027.

Well, at least that’s a win for Getz!

Easily, this is a bottom 10 team in baseball until new ownership.

To do what? Rebuild? That's silly.

Set the loss record and potentially set it again in consecutive seasons.

...And other things you can make up to hope for. Dave Dombrowski missed "setting" the loss record by one loss. You're not really making sense, here.

How in the world can you compare Dombrowski to Getz?  Dombrowski had won a World Series with the Marlins as their GM before the Tigers role.

Trying to argue that something that has literally never happened in the 125 year year history of major league baseball isn't a big deal is one helluva of a flex, just because someone else came close, but still failed to achieve it.  It's like saying that being the first consensus hall of famer didn't matter for didn't matter for Mariano Rivera because Jeter was one vote away from doing it previously.

That’s still not the same as setting the MLB’s futility record though.  As much as you want it to be the same thing, “coming close” isn’t.  And Dombrowski’s team won 72 games the very next season.  Getz’s team is on pace to win 27 games, which would shatter his own record from last season.

People forget Dombrowski was running Tigers player development for years before their organization imploded and then he received a promotion to GM that no other team would have ever considered giving him.

Oh no... that was Getz? Never mind.

What a coincidence....I am currently working on a book about professional knitting. I would love the opportunity to interview you on your favorite yarn types, needle sizes, and knitting techniques. Also, my readers would be thrilled to hear about the most challenging patterns that you've tackled and how you approach troubleshooting issues.
