Had a chance to walk off Hader....and of course a DP. Guess can't blame Yoan too much.

Looked like that strike 2 on Yoan was generous.....probably should've been a walk there.

Well, congrats to Carlos on his 1st career Home Run off Hader.

One to go for 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'll say this for the Padres, they didn't have the year they were expecting but when all is said and done they could still finish with a winning record. Instead of throwing in the towel, they finished strong and Preller can build on that for next year.

The Sox traded all their supposed malcontents and trouble makers....did they get any better? They got even worse. And I don't mean the Sox shouldn't have traded those guys, but the Sox indicated they were the reason the team was awful.

Reality check: That wasn't the reason.

I think it’s far more fitting that the Padres finish exactly .500 and the Sox lose exactly 100 games.

I'd fire Preller the day after the regular season, don't care that he has 3 years left on his deal. The Sox can recover within 10 years if Jerry dies. The Padres cannot.

Soto, Snell and Hader all walk with zero to show for it, or add even more fuel to Preller's payroll arson. Burnt all those prospects in the process. Arne Moreno looks at the Padres situation and says WTF, those guys are crazy.

$1,077,000,000 for five players, all but five seasons during age 30s - 40s seasons.

  • $337M for 10 more seasons of Manny Machado (Ages 31 - 40)
  • $327M for 11 more seasons of Fernando Tatis Jr. (Ages 25 - 35)
  • $255M for 10 more seasons of Xander Bogaerts (Ages 31 - 40)
  • $80M for 4 more seasons of Joe Musgrove (Ages 31 - 34)
  • $78M for 5 more seasons of Yu Darvish (Ages 37 - 42)

They can still trade Soto next year but that would signal the end of Preller and/or Melvin or both.

That's over a Billion.  I bet the owner approved them all.  And, Preller signed Shields before Sox bailed him out.  Stay away from Preller.

The White Sox stated more than once they fixed their clubhouse problem at the trade deadline. Yet they continue to lose.

One reason is the pitching staff is loaded with AAA and AA guys. We still have no right fielder, second baseman or a catcher.

Of course, but if the guys covering some of those spots were the reason they were losing, getting rid of them should help. This team just doesn’t want to admit they stunningly overvalued their talent. This new guy thinks they have stars. Maybe if they played in AAA.

Not only overvalued but overpaid.
