Chicago White Sox – RHP Kyson Witherspoon, Oklahoma If this year’s draft plays out how we think it will, the Chicago White Sox will have plenty of options available for them at pick number 10 overall. The perfect solution for them, however, is Kyson Witherspoon, a right-handed starting pitcher who has been one of the bigger risers on recent boards. Witherspoon possesses a dynamic arsenal, headlined by his devastating four-seamer and slider combination. His fastball can nearly touch triple-digits, giving it great results. His slider is devastating, as he goes right after hitters with the pitch. With his slider playing more like a hard cutter, the pitch tunnels well off his fastball, being a key part of his success. He also throws a changeup and curveball, but uses them significantly less than the four-seamer and slider. They desperately need another outfielder, just not sure it's LaViolette. OFC, if the organization has already decided Taylor's the closer, then MAYBE it makes sense. MAYBE. Because you always have the spectre of a pitching injury or non-performance to deal with. Three promising pitchers can suddenly becomes just 1 in a heartbeat...

Came to this thread wondering about Summerhill...is he a reach at 10? Looks to me like a viable option in center field. Whitney Young product too.

Orioles: Brendan Summerhill, OF, Arizona (No. 22) Summerhill broke out of the gate looking like one of the best college performers in the country, then broke his hand, forcing him out for a month. He’s gone 8-for-19 in seven games since his return with eight walks, seven RBIs and no strikeouts. The injury situation is a BIT reminiscent of Montgomery last year...same university as Brian Anderson and Ian Kinsler. Could be an excellent "buy low/er" candidate if they like the hit tool more than LaViolette. That's just a crazy number for Jace to be well under .300 for NCAA Power 5 level play. JJ Wetherholt also had a ton of injury concerns going into the draft last year and fell from the very top of the draft.

If LaViolette is the pick, then I assume that Ryan Fuller signed off on it, the same way Bannister signs off on every pitcher the Sox draft. So your excitement on LaViolette depends on how much you trust Fuller to iron out his swing. LaViolette does check some major boxes for the Sox though. He’s an OF, he’s athletic, and he has some serious power (as a lefty too), which is the system’s biggest need. Edited May 16, 2025May 16 by Boopa1219
