What are Bird Rights, the amnesty provision, max deals, mid level exceptions and is the veteran’s minimum? What other types of contracts should I be aware of? Why do teams do sign and trades instead of just outright sign free agents? Also, why are first round picks dealt like crazy and what determines if a pick can be top 10 protected or not? NBA is so weird. I just learned that Golden State can only take back half of whatever they sign Kuminga to in a sign and trade. So there goes the rumored Vuc for Kuminga deal. Pwill even makes too much sadly. So we're basically talking Coby for Kuminga as the only real possibility, which I'm not sure I do. Sorry for not responding to the rest of the post, there's a lot there. Lol

The fact that teams have to hire capologists is one of those things that I find highly amusing.
scs787
Unpopular opinion...If Josh Giddey only wants 30M a year, I'm making the move right now. IF, and again I'll emphasize the IF, he plays like he did post Zach trade, he's getting a max contract next year. Giddey was really fucking good down the stretch, and it really wasn't empty stats either.

Giddey was really fucking good down the stretch, and it really wasn't empty stats either. The problem is that he has next to zero leverage. No team has the cap space to give him a $30 mil a year offer. Sure, he can take the QO and bet on himself, but then he'd also be risking a guaranteed $125 million to maybe make $30-40 million more. Kuminga's in a similar situation and I think the deal he gets will affect Giddey's contract. The longer this goes on the less the Bulls end up paying him. I don't think the Bulls should lowball him, but if he's asking for $30 mil this off-season, nobody but the Bulls can give that to him. The teams who can use him are caplocked and he has Kuminga in front of him.
scs787
Who's excited for summer league action tonight??!! 😂😂 Just me??? Lol. Really excited to see Essengue. If he comes in confident and aggressive I think he'll carve out a role fairly early. He drew fouls at a really high rate last year and that's something the Bulls didn't do as a team. Also, I really hope Yuki makes the team, if for nothing more than to play the Scalabrine roll. Memphis fans loved him and I'm sure Chicago will as well. Got to see my first summer league games live this year(we saw about 5) and it's a great time if you're a hoops junkie. GA for the days so you can watch as many games as you want, you'll run into a bunch of players if you enjoy that kind of stuff. The gym the Bulls played in on Friday felt like a high school gym so the atmosphere was actually pretty cool. Fun stuff.

For some reason, NBA League Pass won't let me watch fucking Summer League. If Summer League is getting blacked out, there's a problem. scs787
I was in Vegas last year while summer league was going on. It was first time in Vegas so I didn't really wanna spend the time at a game but was hoping to run into somebody, butttt, I didn't. One of these years I'm gonna go out there. Sooooo, Noa.....oooof. At least he was willing to contest that dunk I guess. He's definitely gonna see some time in Hoffman Estates and that's fine. He hasn't been god awful but not surprisingly as an 18 year old not named Cooper Flag, he's not ready. Loved seeing Buzelis continue to be ultra aggressive. He flashed a lot of that last year and man, he NEEDS to be a guy this year. IF Giddey is the guy he was post Zach trade, and Matas takes the step we hope, there's no reason they can't be an actual playoff team. From there you can figure out what you wanna do with Coby and Vuc money to build around those 2.
southsider2k5
Apparently they extended Billy Donovan. Gotta give it to Jerry, he'd rather employ complete asskissers who do what he asks versus actually achieving something. That's why his franchises are completely in disarray. I mean...I don't necessarily think Billy has been the issue here. I guess he can get some blame for the team defense, but the style of play he brought to the team offensively was exactly what you want in the modern NBA. Bulls were 6th in scoring last year. Billy Donovan is probably the best thing this franchise has going. This is incredibly misinformed about how Billy operates within the Bulls. Without him this team would be stuck in Jim Boylen suckage, Billy actually gets something out of the roster despite what they hand him

The_scs787
Giddey signed for 4/100. It sounds like a lot, but the AAV is like 23rd in the league among PGs. IF he plays like he did post all star break that looks like a damn good deal.

Them playing hardball like this will probably cost them Giddey in the open market if he continues his upward ascent. As always, they are looking for a hometown discount, like they deserve that
