I was beside myself angry after that game, I try not to let my fandom bleed over into my real life but apparently, I was absolutely no fun to be around at a friend's party last night lol. I think I might've turned off some girl I've been talking to lol... The only coach I don't hold responsible is the D coordinator but did Freeman, the OC, and players not take NIU seriously? The game also exposed ND's short comings at QB and WR, they struggled to recruit impact players at those positions for years, the NIU QB and WR's easily outplayed them. You can't be an elite program when your skill players are being outplayed by their MAC counterparts. I also don't get why they abandoned the running game down the stretch. Their season is over. Very disappointing when you consider all the moves they made and all the hype after the A&M game. I assume Notre Dame added a ton of portal players like everybody else. Could it be the portal is going to eventually eliminate all but one, maybe two powerhouse teams per season? it's still a team game and portal guys can take a while to fit in. SoCalChiSox
Thank God we survived Mario trying to throw it away by being overly conservative. He's a great recruiter but awful game day coach. Thankfully, the Canes DL ate Notre Dame's OL alive on the last drive. Go Canes! Hit. Stick. Bust Dick!

Thankfully, he built a roster strong enough to overcome his caveman tendencies, at least this time. They will still end up losing a couple games to inferior opponents this year just as we usually do. Boopa1219
Mike Denbrock cost ND that game last night, his play calling was fireable. It's the second game in a row that he's cost ND. A lot of people, myself included, have Jerimayah Love as the best player in the country, he had 4 carries at the half and 10 on the game, to go with 4 receptions. That's criminal. During the first 40mins of the game, their offense relied solely on bubble screens. They didn't establish the run or the vertical passing game till the last five minutes of the third quarter. I thought their defense played great, they certainly played good enough to win. CJ Carr is a dude, didn't look scared out there at all. They may finally have found the heir to Brady Quinn and Jimmy Clausen. ND probably still a top 10 team in the rankings, I don't see them losing back to back games but Mike Denbrock's seat has to be hot, that job should be highly coveted. I think Purdue-USC was also delayed. Thankfully, the Canes absolutely obliterated USF even after the long delay. Got Florida coming in next week......who actually played much better than I thought they would at LSU....they probably would have won if Lagway wasn't throwing so many picks. But you know just like last year ND will make it if they are close at all. Too much money to be made from their TV ratings.

I was joking before, but they’ll seriously have to lose 4 games before they’re eliminated from the playoffs. They’ll justify 3 losses, but 4 can’t be justified.

Then you have Oregon Penn State Ohio State and whoever wins Indiana/Illinois. Getting close to the point where Div 1 needs to be just the top 50-60 teams based on spending/revenue. caulfield12
ND chances for playoffs... "There were some positive developments, most notably Southern California keeping its record clean and potentially giving Notre Dame another opportunity for a ranked win. But a couple other future foes didn’t do Notre Dame any favors. Arkansas suffered a come-from-ahead loss to Memphis, the second winnable game in succession that the Razorbacks couldn’t finish after coming up short at Ole Miss. Then there was North Carolina State’s loss to Duke that effectively ended any chance the Wolfpack would crack the Top 25 by the time they meet the Irish in three weeks. Even the big win by Syracuse, which will visit Notre Dame in November, came with bad news with Orange quarterback Steve Angeli out for the season. Again, all the Irish can really do is win the rest of their games and hope for the best." USAtoday.com/sports

I don’t know if you watched those games but he wasn’t the reason why they lost them. I guess by your logic all their games going forward are meaningless, which is a stupid way to look at it when every game ND plays is a playoff game from them. They only lost those games by 4 points. I’m as shocked as anyone that their defense has been horrendous, the Ash hire isn’t working out and I don’t expect him to be back, but they did hold Arkansas and their offense which has been quite good to only 13 points. They went from being a top 3-10 defense to being a sub 100 defense, which is insane. Freeman has elevated recruiting there but Carr is real, they got the QB and that can take it another level too

USC losing to Illinois after that 63-10 shellacking doesn’t help much either. Petrino’s on like his seventh or eighth chance now.
Kyyle23
The fact that Bobby Petrino is back at Arkansas as HC after THIS happened just shows how stupid the college game can be within the good ole boys network
