Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki is expected to be posted during the meetings this week, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed Saturday, which will open a 45-day window in which clubs try to recruit him to their side. 

 

"The Mets already have agreed to a deal worth around $5 million with 17-year-old Dominican infielder Elian Peña, which represents a huge chunk of their budget.

The club still could walk away from the contract, which is nonbinding, but doing so would harm its reputation and cost a top prospect.

They also could look to trade for additional IFA funds. 

If the Mets believe they have a real shot at Sasaki, they surely would figure out a way to get him the necessary money."

I thought you were misremembering Fukudome due to his time on the Cubs, but hell, he was indeed on them for 2.5 months.

Oh god, I just had the image of them last second being like "Rikku, join the call!"

Don Wakamatsu at least sounds Japanese, but pretty sure it was via Hawaiian islands originally.

 

(We have a better chance here than we did with Harper...I guess., as long as Scott Boras isn't involved.)

Hopefully they updated from Windows 98 and didn't have any technical glitches.
