Nice waiver claim reliever option for Getz.  Only 25 years old.  Dump Julks/Shewmake for him…

Rangers designated RHP Roansy Contreras for assignment.

The Rangers needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the return of Nathan Eovaldi on Thursday and unfortunately, Contreras was the odd-man out this time around. He pitched pretty well in a bullpen role during the 2024 season — registering a 3.86 ERA and 52/25 K/BB ratio across 60 2/3 innings of work, so once again it wouldn’t be surprising to see another team take a shot at him on waivers.

Why would Quintana come here when any contender could use him in their rotation as a solid 4th or 5th. I mean, plenty of contenders need pitching.

I doubt it happens.  If the Sox sign Quintana to his projected contract before the Orioles do, we are in the Stranger Things upside down world.

Woo boy there is gonna be some UNHAPPY cubs fans if Tucker doesn’t come to the north side.  You could hear it on the score that they think it’s done

Either way, they kind of get screwed.  They have to trade a haul for him, have him for only one year until free agency, and then hope they can sign him to a massive contract.  I’d rather just try to sign him in a year if I was a Cubs fan.

Apparently, Yankees are closing in on the deal for Tucker now. Astros are really interested in Lu Gil and the Yankees now are open to putting him in the trade.

Interesting.  I just saw this BRUUUCCCEEE bomb, but he’s usually late to the party.  It would be hilarious if @Kyyle23’s post above comes true and the Yankees gank Tucker right from under the Cubs nose.  You would be able to taste Cubs fans tears on WSCR 670 The Snore.

I haven't seen this. I keep seeing more Cubs smoke on Twitter.

I remember people being really mad when he got moved and thinking Cleveland was going to turn him into a stud.

Nestor Cortes going to Brewers

Guess he was odd man out with Cole, Fried, Rodon, the RoY Gil, and Stroman.

I wonder if this means Gil is not going to Houston for Tucker.

He was never my friend.

Even the bottom revenue team is spending more this off season than the Sox...maybe MLB will vote to also going very Sox compensatory picks to rebalance/restore competitiveness in the Central?

"A's continue being active with acquisition of LHP Jeffrey Springs from Rays

The Rays are sending Jeffrey Springs to the A's in exchange for RHP's Joe Boyle and Jacob Watters, as well as and OF Will Simpson. A compensatory draft pick will also be heading Tampa's way, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The 32-year-old Springs appeared in only 10 games over the past two seasons as he's dealt with ulnar neuritis, as well as Tommy John surgery. He is owed $10.5 million in each of the next two season and his contract features a club option of $15 million for 2027."

Meanwhile, TB probably needs that money to fix their failing roof since the city doesn't want to pay.

Just doesn't invest his time/effort/energy into learning the backgrounds of teams, like Benetti has always been much better at, just from a natural passion and/or interest in the various sports he broadcasts, and their past histories.

It's not easy to cover three major sports as an announcer, one or two is the most that the majority can successfully manage.
