December 28, 20241 yr Right-hander Corbin Burnes and the Arizona Diamondbacks are in agreement on a six-year, $210 million contract, sources tell ESPN. After a quiet winter, Arizona gets the best pitcher on the market. And Burnes gets to play for a dangerous NL West team. First on news: @JonHeyman. — Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) December 28, 2024
December 28, 20241 yr Hopefully this goes much better than the Bumgarner deal... (And Colorado might as well drop out of the NL West.) But Elias has Sugano now as a replacement. Edited December 28, 20241 yr by caulfield12

I don’t disagree their rotation isn’t good right now, but they could still improve it substantially if they want to. If they go with what they have, then Elias should be on the hot seat though.
December 28, 20241 yr The Orioles can score a lot of runs. They have had success with a patchwork rotation before. I predict they do nothing.

They were 40-41 in the second half of 2024 and then swept by the Royals at home with a patchwork rotation. I’m not sure I’d call that success.

Improve it substantially with what? All the top guys are off the board now. And no chance Elias touches Flaherty.

They have plenty of prospects to improve their rotation with Mayo & Basallo being the big ones. They may not cash them in, but they certainly have the ability to add some impactful pitching. I agree they are mostly out of options in free agency though.

Yea right.

This market for pitching seems “normal”, teams are giving guys contracts that mostly make sense. The only contract where I’d say the money made no sense was Snell. Money for pitching is mostly coming in where you’d have expected contracts to start the offseason, and Getz deal for Crochet, on paper, seems fair.
December 28, 20241 yr Orioles pitching gonna look even worse now that left field isn’t the Grand Canyon
December 28, 20241 yr Would be great if we still had fedde instead of giving him to the cards for nothing

I like your posts. I just can’t get behind trying to level the playing field in baseball just because owners like Jerry are cheap. The Sox, A’s, Pirates, etc. can all spend more money, but they choose not to. They can’t spend like the Dodgers but they could all spend much more than they do. If we were all Dodgers fans, we would be laughing at these pathetic teams, and rightfully so. Edited December 28, 20241 yr by WhiteSox2023
