Six White Sox crack ESPN's top 100 list

Players who meet MLB rookie eligibility requirements (fewer than 130 at-bats, 50 innings pitched or 45 days on the active roster) going into the season are eligible for this list.

18.) Schultz - 60 FV

33.) Colson - 55 FV

38.) Teel - 55 FV

41.) Smith - 55 FV

54.) Quero - 50 FV

92.) Braden - 50 FV

The divide on Colson is WILD, though historically the BA's of the world have been much quicker to adjust to changes in a players performance to move them into a more appropriate range.

And leaving Quero off BA list altogether really stands out...

For #33, this doesn't seem like a great write up.

The Dodgers have 7 on the list besides Roki.

They are absolutely unreal machine.

I believe Quero cracking this list means he could net us an extra pick if he somehow with ROTY and is with the big league squad out of Spring?
I think you need to be on 2/3 top 100’s: pipeline, BA, ESPN.

Wilson with the A's (son of Jack) is the runaway early favorite...odds are sub optimal Quero would even get 100 games if he started right out of the gate in late March...and that's highly unlikely to happen due to his missed time last season due to injury in the second half and relative lack of AAA seasoning.

The odds are extremely low, just thought it was a fun side note.

Wilson had like a .630 OPS with disappointing defense last year. He has some work to do to win RoY.

One of the few rookie expected to play everyday...and guessing offense might be loosened up compared to all that foul ground and dead night air at the Coliseum.

Possibly. It is an odd profile: tons of contact, almost zero swing and miss, but goes outside the zone, 30 power. So, all the OBP is in the batting average and there is no slugging. If he doesn’t have plus defense, that’s barely a regular. Maybe he’ll get stronger or more selective, but right now he looks like a second division regular.

Mike Caruso with more pop haha...his dad was surely a defensive specialist, but somehow he got to #30 on the majority of Top 100 lists for SOME reason/s.  I personally can't claim to have watched him all that much.

Apparently, the Sox placed 5 more prospects on ESPN's follow-up, "just missed" list. Anybody pay for the Disney bundle?

That can't be right when there are only 15 total.

Burke was the write up we already saw from McDaniel.  It's definitely not Wolkow Ramos or Colas.

Taylor?  Not with his spotty injury history so far.

Okay....we have different definitions of "just missed."

That's 101-115 territory.

Btw, is Gonzalez lower rated now than every single player from that draft class picked before him?

"White Sox: Grant Taylor, RHP
Though Taylor missed Louisiana State's '23 national championship season because he had Tommy John surgery that February, the White Sox still picked him in the second round. He has regained his power stuff: an upper-90s fastball, a sharp low-90s cutter and a pair of solid breaking pitches. He got back on the mound last May and logged a 1.13 ERA with a 25/1 K/BB ratio in 16 innings at Single-A before getting shut down with a lat strain, then returned for the Arizona Fall League. Paul Skenes believes in him."

“I’ll talk to him (Skenes), and he’ll tell me different stuff that he notices throughout the league, and he’s like, ‘You can be here very soon, dude,’” Grant Taylor said during a recent Zoom. “He’ll tell me basically from what he saw when we were kind of going after it with each other, he’s super confident in me -- and then seeing him do all the stuff and him being super confident believing in himself at the highest of the highest levels …"

The stuff has never been in question.  He has to find health.

“He (Skenes) was one of the best in the league this year. It’s pretty cool for one of my really, really good buddies to believe I can be right up there with him, and he’s at the top of the league.”

Could you imagine if we got Lesko instead of Thorpe.. oh boy

Well if 1/3 of these guys turn into average regulars I'll be thrilled and we'll still be a 75 win team in 2028.
