I was doing a bit but in reality I bet he would out-OPS Vaughnie and be probably the only league average hitter on the team. Vaughn is not a good baseball player, which is too bad, because he seems like a nice dude.

Believe it or not, Vaughn was pretty much a "league average" hitter last year. Benintendi was almost league average.

I know. I like Vaughn actually. Benny seems like a good dude, a decent player, but overpaid. I think both guys can rebuild their value and help us win games. Rooting for both.

However I was memeing about the “three true outcomes” or whatever it’s called and I think it’s funny that Gallo of all players is on the Sox. How the mighty have fallen in a way. I think it would be a neat storyline if he made the team. DH is up in the air. Give it to a kid, but also give it to gallo. Hell yeah.

Vaughn has been in the major leagues for 4 seasons. Each year his OPS has been higher than Gallo’s, so you’re basing everything on bullshit.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Colson Montgomery would hardly view his back spasm blip as a refutation of his work, but his offseason was geared at keeping him healthy and keeping him at shortstop.

“I was like 240 pounds in the offseason so I felt like I needed to lose it and I like being a little bit lighter,” said Montgomery, who lost around 10-15 pounds. “It was to be more athletic and to be what I am, because I want to be a shortstop, and I felt I had to lose some weight to be a shortstop.”

@nrockway @Bob Sacamano you know, sadly enough I'm with ya. I'm so sick of Vaughn.

And I’m not even that pro-Gallo lol

Problem is league average as a bottom 1/3 1B / DH as a RHB is completely worthless.

That's already been well established.

Apparently, CWS minor leaguers are more Darvish's speed, at this point.

Umm...it's just about getting work in, like when Teel homerd against Sasaki and Elko hit him hard.

Sasaki pitches Tuesday after Yamamoto at night against the Reds.

Both threw bullpen sessions at Glendale, generating a lot of excitement.

My first thought watching Colson this spring was he looks a bit leaner. But in my head I figured maybe the humidity in Charlotte just adds 10 lbs.

It's just a matter of time until he's like a 255-260 first basement with total focus on power hitting.

They will move him to third next...although natural replacement for Vaughn or DH as well.

Elko and Wolkow eventually there...hopefully George can stay at corner OF.  Braden would be RF in all likelihood.

White Sox: RHP Grant Taylor
The White Sox are heavier in the pitching prospects, so the natural choices would be Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith, the top two left-handed pitching prospects in the game, per MLB Pipeline, who threw back-to-back scoreless innings on Feb. 26 at Camelback Ranch. But instead this nod goes to Taylor, who topped out at 101.2 mph during his first appearance in Surprise on Feb. 23. The right-hander is a starter to watch, after being drafted while he was recovering from Tommy John and dealing with a lat issue in ‘24. He has the stuff to be a high-end member of the rotation. -- Scott Merkin

Both Schultz and Hagen Smith pitched 2 shutout innings today.

About as many things happened as possible without a run scoring, but that's all that matters in the end.

Hagen has had traffic in all four of his innings to deal with, pretty sure.

If you've never been to spring training, watching the players and games on the backfields is a great experience. More fun than the "true" games for baseball nerds.

I've been. My wife used to have spring "end of year" meetings in Phoenix, and we'd stay in Tempe. It was a short walk to the Angels' site (I think the Sun Devils' stadium?)
