Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox

At this time with the speculation that Justin Ishbia is going to own the Sox eventually I have a few questions and would love to hear thoughts/opinions.

1- Is Block 78 back on for a new ballpark?  If so, it could be in line to become similar to Project 1901 or Wrigleyville South.

2- Would Joe Mansueto, Chicago Fire owner, have any interest in a partnership with Ishbia at Block 78?

3- Is Block 78 big enough to support a ballpark and soccer stadium?

4- Is White Sox Park an option for Mansueto to buy and retrofit into a soccer stadium?

To be honest, the dream is Ishbia coming in, building a beautiful new park at the 78, and having a couple mega free agents to supplement young core.  I love going to the Rate but it’s time for a new,

While some view the move, reported by The Athletic, as potentially raising his chances of ownership in the future, Ishbia’s tender offer has no impact on control or operation of the team, the Sox say.

Until MLB votes on any change the statement is technically true, even if it is a lie in concept.

If the article quote about the price of limited share prices doubling in a couple of years is accurate, Jerry’s fiduciary duty is more than covered.

The highest the White Sox were ever valued by Forbes was $2.19 billion or $2.09 billion....pretty darned sure about that.

Or they can try to tie in with the Chicago Sky/WNBA and a new stadium for them too....like the Mercury and Suns in Phoenix.

Or the Reinsdorfs can change their perspective on the WNBA lol.

They're already going to be at 15 teams with four cities (including Payton Manning/Nashville) fighting for spots 16 and 17 four to five years down the road from now.

Great point. Basically anyone that JR listed to *and* follows their advice has an impact on the operations of the club. But it's strictly voluntary on JR's part.

Again Caulfield, I enjoy and respect you as a poster, but why the f*** would the White Sox have any interest in partnering up with a WNBA team for a 78 deal.  It’s absolute nonsense and this is the type of stuff you post that gets you beat up by the rest of the board.  You need to think before you post this stuff man and I say that not trying to be mean in the slightest.

Perhaps they want even less profit than they currently make.  WNBA?  Haha…

Well, there are only 13 WNBA teams in the world...and one unique combination just happens to be owned by the future Sox majority owner's brother...and both brothers share a unique passion for basketball as well as baseball.

Also, Chicago is the biggest remaining media market without a standalone 10,000+ BB-only stadium for the WNBA.

Granted, it would make more sense to simply use the United Center...but that's arguably too big of a stadium to fill.  And JR seems for some reason dramatically opposed to the idea.

That said, utilizing GRF for soccer might be more logical.

But not really exciting/interesting...and the stadium location and lack of any other activities around it at 35th and Shields makes it less palatable.

Finally, the idea of a Bears/White Sox partnership seems to have completely evaporated into the ether.

With a payroll of just $1.2 million, WNBA teams are immensely profitable with the new media rights deals they're in the process of working on...but they need to be liberated from negotiating together with NBA parent teams in many markets.  That unwieldy structure is worse than the current MLB national media rights packaging even.

$2000 USD up to $20000 is pretty much the average range for the majority of necklaces bracelets and rings.

They're not building another arena, stop with the nonsense. Wintrust is the perfect size for the Sky.

1) You would think so, but we also don't know. Maybe Ishbia would want more control from the development whereas right now the proposal is basically just Related giving JR the land for the stadium and that's it. Maybe Ishbia negotiates for ownership of the land around the current stadium and just builds that up to a stadium district. Maybe he tries to buy the land at the 78 from Related. We really don't know.

2) Mansueto seems to be looking to build at the 78 with or without the White Sox. It was reported in November that he had narrowed his choices to the 78 or Lincoln Yards, but the 78 would be much easier from a zoning and community input perspective.

3) According to Related, yes. Especially now that the U of I facility that was supposed to anchor the southern portion of it has been cancelled.

4) Part of the Related pitch for the Sox stadium at the 78 was to repurpose it to a soccer stadium, but like I said above, Mansueto doesn't seem to be looking at it. However, the Chicago women's soccer team is looking for a new stadium in the city. If they really want their own stadium and don't want to partner with the Fire, it could be the place for them.

Jang Won-young of IVE...K-pop star who is one of Fred Jewelers' Asian ambassadors.

Also, Liu Yifei was just here in Wuhan (her hometown) at the Louis Vuitton store in the same mall recently...shopping for family and friends while the entire store was closed down just for her.

Why are you doubling down on this WNBA stuff?  There will never be any stadium connection between a baseball team and a WNBA team.  There is zero reason to have this discussion.  If you want to discuss the Sky or other WNBA teams, please do so at a different board or in the respective thread here.
