That’s why you actively try to acquire young players rather than start the season with the Taylor’s and Jankowski’s of the dumpster.  We are just wasting at bats on this bums.  The Pirates just grabbed one such player for cash considerations.

Yep, the younger guys probably will bust, but at least maybe you find a Max Muncy.

But as a veteran would you sign a long term deal with a team going through this process right now?

It's not if the Sox have the prospects to call up. It's when they will offer the longer deals and when the veterans think they have progressed enough to sign.

They aren't trying to win right now.

I just prefer they try to find a guy with possible upside instead of literally some of the worst hitters in the sport.  Give me Palacios over Jankowski.

Yeah you gotta find the outfield equivalents to Sosa, Vargas, etc that just need to play and see what you have.

Perfect example of the type of swings that Vargas needs to get away from.  No balance, one handed swings.

Depends on what they will sign for. They at least want good character guys as the propects show up. They aren't going ti have all 22 year ilds. The union would probably file a grievance.

Great pitch

DFA claims don't get a choice. And neither do the free agent project types really. And a lot aren't 22.

Seen more hangers the last two games than most team throw in two weeks

Terrible lackadaisical defense by Sosa this inning.

What he do wrong?  Saw the throw, that happens

That's true. But then they would have had to wait until that point in the off season to acquire them without really knowing who was available.

No matter who they acquire they aren't going to be very good and they won't be around long.

So Eisert is definitely the guy who is DFA'd when Gilbert is ready.

They'll definitely have more flexibility on the wavier wire if/when Robert is traded. And hopefully one of Tauchman and Benintendi as well (hopefully all 3 are good and healthy enough to trade)

He waited back on it instead of charging into the grass and making a quicker throw.

McKinstry not a burner.

Better swings by Robert

He was thinking about the team fielding stats of previous seasons, and the promise Chris Getz apparently made.

Pathetic by Vaughn

Vaughn late on a high 92 MPH fast ball.

At what point do we accept the sad reality that we are slowly marching towards Robert being released/option not picked up and never traded?

The Timmy/Yoan path

Good at bat by our big acquisition

Key name to remember for Sporcle quiz.

I wonder if he’s the worst hitter in baseball over the last 40 games?  It’s either him or Vargas.

An answer for the immaculate grid square for Sox and Jays.

At this rate, we won’t even get another bum like Vargas for him.
