He might be MORE afraid that if Colson Teel Quero Meidroth all struggle...they're going to be coming after him with pitchforks and torches. That will only leave the Big 3 to market and this summer's #10 draft pick...they probably want to hold Schultz/H.Smith/Taylor back until next year for off season marketing purposes. The Sox are already 2-8 and Jankowski and Taylor were starting games last week. I think most reasonable Sox fans with a clue already realize this team is going to suck either way and would welcome watching young players playing instead of mid-30’s vets wasting at bats. Jake Posted April 9 Share Posted April 9 It's a player with some history of good play, who has shown some signs of being back to that old level, and is currently on a minor league contract in extended spring training. Nick Maton is your everyday DH, the team is batting under .200. Do not overthink this, nobody is blocked, dudes are getting hurt every day, and it's a long season. This is a chance of a solid player who you might flip at the deadline if things go well and a hedge against having to play Tristan Gray or Bobby Dalbec or something.
